Chicago Tribune reports Sam Rosen and David Diehl with Holly Sonders on Bears/Buccaneers.
ReplyDeleteCorrect and I even have it on the full schedule. Lazy copy and paste job.
DeleteCould be that Sam isn't the game due to the fact that he's going into the hockey hall of fame on Monday
DeleteI know it's to late to do it but I am surprised that the NFL didn't shift a FOX early game over to the CBS late game
ReplyDeleteThat may be due to so many crossover games(5 on Fox,4 on CBS)being prescheduled when the schedule was released. As the TV contract permits a max of 7 crossovers on each network,I think they're conserving their remaining crossflexes for the stretch run...
DeleteAny idea of who will be calling Jets/Rams? Do you think Albert of maybe Stockton?
ReplyDeleteKenny Albert, Daryl Johnston & Laura Okmin have Packers/Titans. Thom Brennaman, Charles Davis & Peter Schrager have Rams/Jets.

ReplyDeleteIt turns out NFL Network "Total Access" host Dan Hellie, not Sam Rosen, will be calling Bears/Buccaneers with David Diehl & Holly Sonders Sunday on the "NFL on FOX". I've seen Hellie's work on that show, but I'm not familiar with him providing play-by-play work. Then again, Bears' fans have been subjected to Justin Kutcher on an "NFL on FOX" game as well as Andrew Catalon each of the last 2 years on the "NFL on CBS". The price the Bears are paying for being bad at football?
ReplyDeleteI think it may have to do with Rosen's Rangers commitments, while he usually hands those games over to John Giannone to call, it's games in Western Canada (games Saturday, Sunday & Tuesday) and probably easier to fly with MSG's crew into Canada than take a commercial flight to call one game on Tuesday.
DeleteNFL Network "Total Access" host Dan Hellie will soon be the NFL on FOX as #7 play-by-play, and Sam Rosen will be #8 play-by-play.
DeleteI'm not sure about that. A year ago, the "NFL on FOX" actually assigned Dodgers' TV voice Joe Davis, ex-Notre Dame/NFL QB Brady Quinn & sideline reporter Molly McGrath (Now with ESPN), to call the Lions/Bears' game at Soldier Field. FOX Sports has also put its lead College Football/Basketball voice Gus Johnson on that rarely used #8 "NFL on FOX"
Deletecrew at the end of the college season, too. For all I know, this could be a one game deal with NFL Network's Dan Hellie calling Bears/Buccaneers this Sunday.
I remember when i had Sunday Ticket, the Cardinals were so bad that FOX would often send their number 6 or 7 crews often to Sun Devil Stadium(unless it was the Giants, Bears,Rams or Cowboys. CBS did the same thing too.
DeleteActually, it turns out Sam Rosen is being honored with a broadcasting award in Toronto this weekend. That explains why NFL Network's Dan Hellie will provide play by play on Sunday's Bears/Buccaneers' game on the "NFL on FOX" with David Diehl & Holly Sonders. Sam is a solid broadcaster. I'm not familiar with Hellie other than his work on "NFL Total Access". I know that Hellie replaced Rich Eisen on NFLN's signature show.
ReplyDeleteSam Rosen is a solid PBP and if anyone at FOX had half a neuron he would be getting a regular NFL slot.
ReplyDeleteSam Rosen is very familiar to Bears' fans, especially in recent years. Rosen has been the preseason TV voice on the team-produced Chicago Bears TV Network, working with onetime former Bear QB Jim Miller & FOX 32's Lou Canellis on the sidelines. I know that Rosen has been part of the "NFL on FOX" crew on a regional basis dating back to 1996. With all due respect, Rosen is a better voice than the frail-looking Dick Stockton. One look at Stockton now & and I think you'll agree.
Deletefox needs to move a game to CBS because CBS has 3 1:00 games
Deletenot going to happen it's to late for any network changes for this week
DeleteNo 4:00pm game on Fox in NYC this week? We're stuck with Dolphins-Chargers on CBS? :(

DeleteFox has the doubleheader this weekend, they are getting Cowboys-Steelers
