Regardless of who wins the championship on Saturday, it will be a first-time champion in the series as neither Elliott Sadler, Daniel Suarez, Justin Allgaier nor Erik Jones have won titles in the Xfinity Series before, so that's nice.
Anything can happen in these one-off races so you could make a case that any of the four could end up hoisting the championship trophy. Sadler has been the most consistent driver in the series all season long with no DNF's, only four races finishes outside the top ten (only one in this Chase). Jones has the most wins of the quartet with four and the Joe Gibbs Racing Toyotas always seem to have plenty of speed on the 1.5 milers. Speaking of JGR, Suarez has shown a lot of improvement this season and has been running very well of late (his last non top eight finish was in August). And while Allgaier is the one driver without a victory this season, he also has shown impressive consistency in his debut season with JR Motorsports.
But as in the case of Highlander, there can only be one and the driver that I am predicting to be the champion is Saurez. Sadler may have him beat in terms of the consistency and completing almost every lap this season but I think Suarez is running a little better at this point and I think the JGR power will help him claim the title.
