2016 College Football Predictions: Weeks 14 & 15

As we enter December, we are arriving at the conclusion of college football's regular season, if you will. Eight conference championship games will be held starting on Friday and for those clubs hoping to get a bid to the College Football Playoff, it is all or nothing. So who will win this week and the next? Here are my picks.

Friday, December 2nd
MAC Football Championship - Detroit
Western Michigan (12-0) vs. Ohio (8-4) - ESPN, 7:00
The Bobcats play good defense and they are a solid team but this would be a stunning upset.
Pick: Western Michigan

Pac-12 Championship Game - Santa Clara, CA
Colorado (10-2) vs. Washington (11-1) - Fox, 9:00
Save for that home loss to Southern Cal, Washington has handled all of their opponents this season and most of them convincingly. Colorado is a very good team and their defense is good enough to keep them in this but on a neutral field, I have to go with the Huskies.
Pick: Washington

Saturday, December 3rd
Kansas State (7-4) vs. TCU (6-5) - FS1, 12:00
The Wildcats are always crafty but the Horned Frogs will just prove to be too much offensively at home for KSU to handle.
Pick: TCU

Troy (9-2) vs. Georgia Southern (4-7) - ESPN2, 12:00
Pick: Troy

American Athletic Conference Championship - Annapolis, MD
Temple (9-3) vs. Navy (9-2) - ABC, 12:00
The Middies are rolling offensively at the moment and even against a strong Temple defense, I like Navy here at home.
Pick: Navy

Conference USA Chamionship Game - Bowling Green, KY
Louisiana Tech (8-4) vs. Western Kentucky (9-3) - ESPN, 12:00
In a matchup of two elite passing offenses, one would presume that we will get plenty of offense here in Bowling Green. But while the Hilltoppers are pretty solid defensively, Louisiana Tech is anything but. Give me Western Kentucky.
Pick: Western Kentucky

Oklahoma State (9-2) vs. Oklahoma (9-2) - Fox, 12:30
The Sooners have been one of the hottest teams in football since that miserable 1-2 start as they have won eight straight and they have the second-highest scoring average in FBS. Oklahoma State is not that far behind but I don't think they're good enough to win on the road over this team.
Pick: Oklahoma

New Mexico State (3-8) vs. South Alabama (5-6) - ESPN3, 1:00
Pick: South Alabama

Louisiana-Lafayette (5-6) vs. Louisiana-Monroe (4-7) - ESPN3, 3:00
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette

Baylor (6-5) vs. West Virginia (9-2) - FS1, 3:30
Pick: West Virginia

SEC Championship Game - Atlanta
Alabama (12-0) vs. Florida (8-3) - CBS, 4:00
Unless Florida puts in a truly astounding defensive effort here in Atlanta, the Crimson Tide are going to roll big league.
Pick: Alabama

Georgia State (3-8) vs. Idaho (7-4) - ESPN3, 5:00
Pick: Idaho

Arkansas State (6-5) vs. Texas State (2-9) - ESPN2, 7:30
Pick: Arkansas State

Mountain West Championship Game - Laramie, WY
San Diego State (9-3) vs. Wyoming (8-4) - ESPN, 7:45
It is a little bit if a surprise that the Cowboys are hosting this game and they have had some big games offensively this season. That said, San Diego State's defense is too good while their own defense is so bad that I'll pick the Aztecs.
Pick: San Diego State

ACC Championship Game - Orlando, FL
Clemson (11-1) vs. Virginia Tech (9-3) - ABC, 8:00
Considering that Clemson is both better offensively and defensively than their opponent, I like them on a neutral site in Orlando.
Pick: Clemson

Big Ten Championship - Indianapolis
Wisconsin (10-2) vs. Penn State (10-2) - Fox, 8:00
Both clubs coming in having played pretty good football of late. But even as Wisconsin may be forced to go back to Alex Houston at quarterback, I do think they're the better team and will show it.
Pick: Wisconsin

Saturday, December 10th
Army vs. Navy - Baltimore - CBS, 3:00
There is no question that the Black Knights are getting better on the field but I still don't think they are quite there to end this losing streak to Navy.
Pick: Navy

  1. Ben - Army/Navy is in Baltimore this year not Philadelphia

    1. Ah yes, I was actually talking about this the other day and totally spaced out here. Fixed.

  2. Mid American Conference is on the deuce sir

  3. Is the fictitious quarterback Alex Houston a joke for Wisconsin because because they keep going back and forth between the two, or were you meaning one or the other?
