2016 NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup Predictions: Round of 8

We are now in the homestretch to Homestead as only four races remain in the 2016 Sprint Cup Series season. That also means there is one more elimination and it will come in three weeks at Phoenix International Raceway as what is now a field of eight will be cut down to four for the championship race. Which four drivers will be going for the title on November 20th? Here are my predictions.

1 Kyle Busch
Projected winner at Martinsville

2 Carl Edwards
Projected winner at Texas

3 Kevin Harvick
Projected winner at Phoenix

4 Matt Kenseth
With the exception of Talladega, Kenseth has run really well in the Chase thus far with three top fives and four top tens. I think that he will keep it up and get to Homestead.
5 Denny Hamlin
It was a tough call for me between Kenseth and Hamlin to get that final championship spot but I do think that Kenseth has been slightly better and more consistent thus far in the Chase.

6 Jimmie Johnson
For what it's worth, I think Johnson's best chance to get to the championship race comes this weekend at Martinsville, one of his best tracks. He also hasn't won there in three seasons. Johnson has gotten wins this season but beyond that, I haven't seen the strong speed we have seen from him in years past.

7 Kurt Busch
If you are sensing a trend, I am rewarding consistency in my predictions here and while Busch has looked good some weeks, he also has been mid-pack others. He also has only led seven laps going back to early July.

8 Joey Logano
Logano was able to crank out a win at Talladega to advance to this point but he has not shown as much speed as he has in year's past and I think that'll hurt him here.
