2016-17 NBA on ESPN Announcers

This is the 15th season of ESPN's NBA coverage and with that, we have got some changes to their announcing crews in the wake of a high-profile departure. Let's take a look.

Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy
Mark Jones, Hubie Brown
Dave Pasch, Doug Collins
Ryan Ruocco, Doris Burke

Obviously the one big change is the aforementioned departure of Mike Tirico from the B-team and his replacement is Mark Jones. Jones is solid but unspectacular and frankly, I would have preferred to see Dave Pasch getting that promotion.

Speaking of Pasch, he will work a number of games with Doug Collins as he will now just go games instead of studio work. Collins will also work select games with Mike Breen as well. Since Collins is better on games than the studio, I think it's a good move.

And as for Doris Burke, she will be doing more games as an analyst this season, largely with Ryan Ruocco, but will also do some sideline reporter as well.

  1. Do you remember sideline reporter Craig Sager? Of course, you do. They might force Craig Sager to do the color commentator as well as Doris Burke to do the play-by-play for some NBA games.
