2016 NFL on Fox Announcers

As approach the 23rd season of the NFL on Fox, we have just got our eyes on the announcers that Fox Sports will be utilizing this season for their coverage. And while we have a bunch of familiar faces, there are some notable newcomers and departures as well. Let's take a look.

Joe Buck, Troy Aikman, Erin Andrews
Kevin Burkhardt, John Lynch, Pam Oliver
Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Laura Okmin
Thom Brennaman, Charles Davis, Chris Spielman (occasionally), Peter Schrager
Chris Myers, Ronde Barber, Jennifer Hale
Dick Stockton, Chris Spielman, Kristina Pink
Sam Rosen, David Diehl, Holly Sonders or Shannon Spake

Other analysts include Matt Millen and Brady Quinn while Danielle Trotta will be used on the sidelines in rotation with Sonders and Spake.

The notable newcomer is Spielman, who we reported on leaving ESPN for Fox back in May. To be honest, I am relatively surprised that Spielman is not on a higher profile team than the so-called F team with Stockton (a team that doesn't get a game every week) but it could mean that he will have a sizable role in Fox's college football coverage. He also tweeted yesterday that he will join the Brennaman-Davis crew on some weeks.

Another new face is Spake who will work the sidelines for a few games. She also joins from ESPN but her focus will be on both college basketball and football as well as on NASCAR.

The departure of note is Tony Siragusa with whom the network parted ways with back in March. Siragusa had a unique role as an analyst down on the sidelines but he never really added that much to a broadcast plus his schtick had worn out its welcome.

    1. Probably because he added next to nothing

    2. Thought Tony added a lot of entertainment to the broadcasts and was a good announcer. He needed to be in the booth to provide more analysis than on the field. Hopefully another sports network picks him up. Let's face it Albert, Johnston and Siragusa was a better three man team than the awful Catalon, Beurlein and Tasker team CBS has.

    1. Should be soon. I'm not sure when their seminar is but I could very well see being in the next week or so.

    2. CBS is not like Fox. CBS hardly make any changes to their broadcast team as Fox does which I really like about Fox.

    3. CBS is much, much, better. They have better announcers on their lower teams as the Gumbel and Green three team is great, as is the Harlan and Gannon team and the Dedes and Wilcots team. Fox has awful teams from the Myers and Barber team, to Sam Rosen who sounds like Tom Brenneman. Buck and Aikman and Burkhardt and Lynch are the best teams on Fox and that is it. CBS is much, much better. Fortunately my team is in the AFC and I get my teams games on CBS.

    4. Well I absolutely CANNOT stand Troy Aikman. Whether he likes the Packers or not, which I think he does not, I just can't that biased guy.

  6. I wish Chris Spielman was higher ranked in terms of broadcasting team. He should be on the #3 team with Kenny Albert. He's excellent!

  7. Will FOX please change their score box this year? It is an awful and small score box and their graphics are awful. Does not even have the team logos in their score box like the other networks. It is like a public access television low budget that Fox puts on. CBS has the better score box and better graphics after a team scores a touchdown. Fox is so low budget and does not have the talent on its depth chart as the announcers on CBS.
