2016 NCAA Tournament Predictions: First Four

The NCAA Tournament kicks off, as always, with the First Four in the Gem City, Dayton, Ohio and this year is no different. We have got ourselves some quality basketball action at the UD Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday night but only four teams will survive and advance on to the 1st Round come Thursday and Friday.

Who will win tomorrow and on Wednesday? Here are my picks.

Tuesday, March 15th
16 Farleigh Dickinson vs. 16 Florida Gulf Coast - truTV, 6:30
Who could forget the damage that the Eagles did in their last NCAA Tournament appearance in 2013 but that was then, and this is now. I think of these two clubs, FDU is slightly better and they'll earn the right to take on North Carolina on Thursday night in Raleigh.
Pick: Farleigh Dickinson

11 Vanderbilt vs. 11 Wichita State - truTV, 9:00
The Commodores are not exactly coming in on a high note as they were one-and-done in the SEC Tournament after losing to a bad Tennessee team in the SEC Tourney. And I do believe that the Shockers are certainly better than their opponents here. Wichita State will advance to take on Arizona on Thursday night in Providence.
Pick: Wichita State

Wednesday, March 16th
16 Holy Cross vs. 16 Southern - truTV, 6:30
Of the 68 teams in the NCAA's, Holy Cross is probably 68th. After all, they are the sole team with a losing record in the tournament and were the eighth seeded team in a bad Patriot League for their conference tournament. So keeping that in mind, they'll probably win. The winner of this game will take on Oregon on Friday night in Spokane.

11 Michigan vs. 11 Tulsa - truTV, 9:00
Neither team really deserved to get bids to the NCAA Tournament but only Tulsa has the distinction of being one of the worst selections in recent memory. After all, nobody saw them even being on the bubble. That could be a bit of motivation for the Golden Hurricane but in the end, I think it will be the Wolverines that will have the honor of taking on Notre Dame Friday night in Brooklyn.
