2016 MLB on Fox Announcers

The 2016 Major League Baseball campaign commences this Sunday and Fox Sports will have coverage all season long on both Fox and FS1. Not to mention that they also have a new lead broadcasting team to boot! Fun times for everyone!

Fox has released their broadcasters for their MLB coverage so let's take a look.

Fox MLB / FS1 MLB

As we alluded to in the open and as we reported on back in December, John Smoltz will be replacing both Tom Verducci and Harold Reynolds in the lead Fox baseball booth alongside Joe Buck. While I like Verducci and generally don't mind Reynolds, Smoltz is a better analyst than either of them and should lead to an improved announcing crew. Meanwhile, Reynolds and Verducci will continue to work games for Fox.

Other play-by-play announcers include Kenny Albert, Kevin Burkhardt, Joe Davis, Aaron Goldsmith from the Mariners, Len Kasper, Justin Kutcher, Don Orsillo and Matt Vasgersian. All of those guys have done games for Fox before with the exception (to the best of my knowledge) of Orsillo, who joined the Padres and Fox Sports San Diego after getting dropped unceremoniously by NESN after years of doing Red Sox games this winter.

Other analysts include Brian Anderson, Cliff Floyd, Mark Gubicza, Eric Karros and CJ Nitkowski as well as Reynolds and Verducci. If you have been a loyal follower of Fox's MLB coverage, you have seen them all before. Erin Andrews, Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi will all serve as reporters for game coverage.

The studio show, as well as MLB Whiparound on FS1, will be helmed by a rotation of Kevin Burkhardt and Chris Myers and they will be joined by Karros, Morosi, Nitkowski, Pete Rose, Frank Thomas and Dontrelle Willis.

  1. I have always wanted a Brian Anderson (PxP from the Brew Crew) & Brian Anderson (analyst from the TB Rays) to do game for FOX ;)

    2. Yes
There's also an analyst named Brian Anderson who works for the Rays. As mentioned above, it would be funny to have Brian Anderson the PBP guy and Brian Anderson the color guy work the same game.

  3. Ben - do you know of why Brennaman mysteriously vanished from MLB on Fox telecasts?

    1. I think that he wanted to focus on just doing the Reds and cut down on the travel.
