2016 Big 12 Tournament Predictions

Kansas City is a great town and starting this Wednesday, it will be hosting the 2016 edition of the Big 12 Tournament, the seventh straight year it will be hosted at the Sprint Center. And once again, the Kansas Jayhawks are the top seed by virtue of having won their 12th straight regular season title. But it's a deep conference, and the strongest conference according to the RPI, so a number of clubs could find themselves on Saturday evening as champions of the conference.

So which team will it be? Here are my exclusive predictions.
First Round - Wednesday, March 9th
8 Kansas State vs. 9 Oklahoma State - ESPNU, 7:00
Pick: Kansas State

7 Texas Tech vs. 10 TCU - ESPNU, 9:00
Pick: Texas Tech

Quarterfinals - Thursday, March 10th
4 Texas vs. 5 Baylor - ESPN2, 12:30
Shaka Smart has found some success with the havoc defense this year but I think this contest with Baylor will turn out more like their matchup in Austin than the earlier one in Waco.
Pick: Baylor

1 Kansas vs. 8 Kansas State - ESPN2, 2:30
The crowd will be fun for this, but the game itself won't be.
Pick: Kansas

2 West Virginia vs. 7 Texas Tech - ESPNU, 7:00
The Red Raiders have made some strides this season but I don't think they've made enough to upset the Mountaineers.
Pick: West Virginia

3 Oklahoma vs. 6 Iowa State - ESPNU, 9:00
These two have played some classic games this season as they split both. I do think that on a neutral floor, the Sooners will come out ahead.
Pick: Oklahoma

Semifinals - Friday, March 11th
1 Kansas vs. 5 Baylor - ESPN2, 7:00
If this game were being played in Waco, perhaps I'd consider the Bears. In Kansas City, give me the Jayhawks.
Pick: Kansas

2 West Virginia vs. 3 Oklahoma - ESPN2, 9:00
Bob Huggins's team's rugged defense will make his an interesting gone to watch but in the end, Buddy Hield will be too much for them once again.
Pick: Oklahoma

Championship - Saturday, March 12th
1 Kansas vs. 3 Oklahoma - ESPN, 6:00
The Sooners have lost twice to Kansas in a pair of terrific ballgames but this time, they'll finally get that win over Rock Chalk.
Pick: Oklahoma
