2016 Patriot League Tournament Predictions

For the second straight year, the Patriot League was a bit of a mess with no teams truly sticking out in conference play. Last year, it resulted in a memorable conference tournament in which a pair of big upsets in the semifinals resulted in the first ever 4-6 matchup in the championship game. Lafayette ultimately got the bid to the NCAA Tournament but given that they finished in last place in the conference this year, it feels safe to say they won't be repeating.

But who will be getting the PL's auto-bid to the NCAA's? Here are my predictions.

All games at higher seed

1st Round - Tuesday, March 1st
7 Navy vs. 10 Lafayette - Annapolis - Patriot League Network, 7:00
Pick: Navy

8 Loyola vs. 9 Holy Cross - Baltimore - PLN, 7:30
Pick: Holy Cross

Quarterfinals - Thursday, March 3rd
1 Bucknell vs. 9 Holy Cross - Lewisburg - PLN, 7:00
Pick: Bucknell

4 Army West Point vs. 5 Colgate - West Point - PLN, 7:00
Pick: Army West Point

2 Lehigh vs. 7 Navy - Bethlehem - PLN, 7:00
Lehigh has already lost to Navy at home this season and they barely beat them on the road. I'm feeling the upset yet again.
Pick: Navy

3 Boston vs. 6 American - Boston - PLN, 7:00
Pick: Boston

Semifinals - Sunday, March 6th
1 Bucknell vs. 4 Army West Point - Lewisburg - CBS Sports Network, TBD
Pick: Bucknell

3 Boston vs. 7 Navy - Boston - CBSSN, TBD
Pick: Boston

Championship - Wednesday, March 9th
1 Bucknell vs. 3 Boston - Lewisburg - CBSSN, 7:30
Picking the top seed is never fun but the PL makes it easy. As we all know, a tournament like 2015 was an anomaly. And even as the conference has been a little all over the place this year, the Bison do indeed look like the best team.
Pick: Bucknell
