Rece Davis to replace Chris Fowler on College GameDay

(CSM/Landov)
For the first time since 1990, College GameDay will have a new host and it will be Rece Davis. James Andrew Miller broke the story yesterday (and confirmed last night by ESPN) that Davis will take over for Chris Fowler, who became ESPN's lead college football play-by-play broadcaster last year. Fowler had hosted GameDay since 1990 after taking over for Bob Carpenter (the original host was Tim Brando) and was the host when the show became a sensation when it began to originate from campuses.

This is a move that makes a ton of sense for all parties and here is why.

Bill Raftery & Grant Hill will call the Final Four with Jim Nantz

In the wake of Steve Kerr leaving broadcasting to coach the Golden State Warriors and Greg Anthony getting suspended after his arrest for solicitation, the CBS/Turner March Madness consortium was going to have to put together a new crew for the Final Four with Jim Nantz. This morning, they announced that the analysts that will work with Nantz to form the new lead broadcast team for the NCAA Tournament will be Bill Raftery and Grant Hill.

The best commercials from Super Bowl XLIX

If you were not watching Super Bowl XLIX for the game itself, or if you weren't watching it for Katy Perry, then you were probably watching the game for the commercials. We all know that the commercials for the Super Bowl are a big deal and that's why NBC was charging $4.5 billion per 30-second spot. Which commercials were the best of the lot? Here's my list.

Dan Quinn is the new head coach of the Atlanta Falcons

(AP)
It has been a couple of weeks since the last NFL coaching vacancy was filled but hey, sometimes you have to wait to get the guy you want. That is what the Atlanta Falcons had to do in order to land their guy, Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn (Adam Schefter had it first). The team had to wait for Quinn because his team was involved in a certain football game but now with the 2014 NFL season now finished, the Falcons have a new head coach.

Was their wait worthwhile? Here's my analysis.

Super Bowl XLIX has to be the greatest Super Bowl ever

(Getty)
So, there's not that much to talk about regarding Super Bowl XLIX, am I right? Other than that wild halftime show, the game itself was pretty mundane. It's not like they'll be talking about this game for years to come.

Obviously I am being facetious. I think this Super Bowl will go down as the greatest Super Bowl ever. At the very least, it had the most stunning, shocking and ridiculous conclusion of any of them.

Another Super Bowl eve, another class for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This year's class includes eight inductees in running back Jerome Bettis, wide receiver/returner Tim Brown, defensive end/linebacker Charles Haley, linebacker Junior Seau and guard Will Shields as well as contributors Bill Polian and Ron Wolf as well as center Mick Tingelhoff, the senior committee inductee. Here's my reaction.
