2016 College Football Playoff Semifinal Predictions

If it's New Year's Eve, it's the College Football Playoff. Of course, having the semifinals on December 31st really wasn't the best of ideas but alas, they are the cards we've been dealt.

Four teams are still alive to win the national championship, but only two of them will still be around on January 11th. Who will they be? Here are my picks.

New Year's Eve - December 31st
1 Clemson vs. 4 Oklahoma - ESPN, 4:00
Clemson Tigers (1965 - 1969)Oklahoma Sooners (1967 - Pres)
Unlike the other semifinal, this one should see plenty of offense and plenty of points. Despite Clemson being undefeated, Oklahoma is actually favored and one can see why considering how spectacular their offense has been this season after the still-confounding loss to Texas in October. Even with how terrific Deshaun Watson has been thus far in 2015, I think the Baker Mayfield train will be tough to stop.
Oklahoma 42 Clemson 38
2 Alabama vs. 3 Michigan State - ESPN, 8:00
Alabama Crimson Tide (1976 - 2000)Michigan State Spartans (1983 - Pres)
This feels like an offensive contest straight out of the old school with two clubs that focus on the rushing game and on the defense. Alabama is the big favorite here but I like Sparty to pull the upset and here is why: Alabama's offense is solely dependent on Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry so if you can shut down the run, you can knock them out. I think the Spartans can do just that and I also will take Connor Cook over Jacob Coker almost every time.
Michigan State 14 Alabama 10
