2015 NFL Predictions: Week 10

(USATSI)
We are in the heart of November and into the second half of the 2015 NFL season. As the playoff picture is really starting to shape up, here are my Week 10 picks.

Last Week: 5-8
2015: 81-70
Locks: 8-1

Thursday, November 12th
Bills (4-4) vs. Jets (5-3) - NFLN, 8:25
Buffalo Bills (1974 - Pres)New York Jets (1964 - 1966)
Rex Ryan will never drop his schtick, and he showed that by naming IK Enemkpali, who infamously punched out Geno Smith back in the preseason, as one of the team's captains. He says that he doesn't mean anything by it, and we all know that he's full of it. His Bills looked better on Sunday against the Dolphins but they haven't seen a defense like the one that Todd Bowles will throw at them. Also, the uniforms these teams will be wearing are a total disgrace.
Jets 19 Bills 12

Sunday, November 15th
Lions (1-7) vs. Packers (6-2) - Fox, 1:00
Detroit Lions (1970 - 2002)Green Bay Packers (1980 - Pres)
Green Bay has a number of problems that they have to deal with right now, namely a defense that is not getting the job done, an inconsistent running game and a receiving unit that has struggled at times to get one. Now they get to return home and take on a team that is a total mess right now in the Lions. Considering that Detroit has been bad against the pass this season, look for a big performance from Aaron Rodgers.
Packers 34 Lions 14

Cowboys (2-6) vs. Buccaneers (3-5) - Fox, 1:00
Dallas Cowboys (1964 - Pres)Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014 - Pres)
With Tony Romo scheduled to return next week, this is a big week for the Cowboys. They have not won since Romo went out and so not only would a won be good for general reasons, they are still somehow alive in the awful NFC East. Tampa Bay won't be an easy win because they are good against the pass and Jameis Winston has shown strides (although he didn't look good against the Giants). It'll be a good game but I like the Bucs here.
Buccaneers 23 Cowboys 20

Panthers (8-0) vs. Titans (2-6) - Fox, 1:00
Carolina Panthers (2012 - Pres)Tennessee Titans (1999 - Pres)
Tennessee won their first game under Mike Mularkey but nobody expects that to continue, particularly as the Panthers are coming to town. Carolina was kicking the ass of the Packers before allowing them to get into the mix down the stretch as Cam Newton was terrific and their defense looked very good. Granted that was at home, but Tennessee is bad.
Panthers 30 Titans 10

Bears (3-5) vs. Rams (4-4) - CBS, 1:00
Chicago Bears (1962 - 1972)St. Louis Rams (2000 - Pres)
Chicago showed some life in San Diego and a nice performance from Jay Cutler helped to power them to the win. Can Cutler come out and do that again, but this time on the road against a much better defense such as that of the Rams? I'm not that sure, even as the Rams have done a terrible job throwing the ball this season, but they still got a guy named Todd Gurley and he will help to be the difference.
Rams 21 Bears 13

Saints (4-5) vs. Washington (3-5) - Fox, 1:00
New Orleans Saints (2006 - Pres)Washington Redskins (1970 - 1971)
The Saints losing on the road to a team like the Titans really is never a good sign, particularly as they are trying to be a potential wild card team. I do think they are better than that, especially going up against team not in the first game of an interim head coach. Kirk Cousins is not a good quarterback and even the apologists know that at this point, but he was not that bad against New England on Sunday as his receivers gave him absolutely no help at all. I like the Saints here in Landover.
Saints 33 Washington 27

Dolphins (3-5) vs. Eagles (4-4) - CBS, 1:00
Miami Dolphins (1997 - 2012)Philadelphia Eagles (1973 - 1995)
Philadelphia has not been fun to watch this season because their offense has been all over the place but they started to show a little promise on Sunday against the Cowboys. Sam Bradford was able to do some things in the passing game, DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews both looked running the ball and Jordan Matthews had himself his best game of the season. The Dan Campbell shine has worn off already for the Dolphins and they'll fall here in Philly.
Eagles 32 Dolphins 23

Browns (2-7) vs. Steelers (5-4) - CBS, 1:00
Cleveland Browns (1992 - 2005)Pittsburgh Steelers (1945 - 1961)
The Steelers will be without Ben Roethlisberger for a few weeks, if not longer, but even without him and Le'Veon Bell, they're not in bad shape against the Browns. Cleveland's defense is basically trash at this point and they are very bad against the run. DeAngelo Williams has looked really good when he has played for the Steelers this season and he will help lead Pittsburgh to the W.
Steelers 17 Browns 11

Jaguars (2-6) vs. Ravens (2-6) - CBS, 1:00
Jacksonville Jaguars (1995 - 2012)Baltimore Ravens (1999 - Pres)
Jacksonville's offense has shown some life at times this season, and perhaps Blake Bortles can find some holes to throw into against a bad Baltimore secondary. And statistically speaking, their defense has been a little bit better this season than their counterparts' unit has been this season. But coming off a bye week, one in which John Harbaugh tried to figure anything out to save his team, I still gotta go with the Ravens.
Ravens 24 Jaguars 22

Vikings (6-2) vs. Raiders (4-4) - Fox, 4:05
Minnesota Vikings (1966 - 2012)Oakland Raiders (1963 - 1963)
The status of Teddy Bridgewater will be interesting to watch after he suffered a concussion Sunday in the victory over the Rams, but even if he does end up playing I like Oakland. First off, Minnesota, even if Bridgewater does play, will not be able to exploit the Raiders through the air like the Steelers were able to since they haven't thrown it well at all this season. Second, the Vikings have not looked all that great on the road either.
Raiders 31 Vikings 28

Patriots (8-0) vs. Giants (5-4) - CBS, 4:25
New England Patriots (1993 - 1999)New York Giants (2000 - Pres)
As we all know, the Giants are a team that have given plenty of trouble to the Patriots in the past. However, this team is not quite the same as those teams were namely in that they do not have a good pass rush and their secondary is, frankly, god awful. Tom Brady is going to throw all over this defense and Eli Manning is going to have to fight to keep up.
Patriots 45 Giants 30

Chiefs (3-5) vs. Broncos (7-1) - CBS, 4:25
Kansas City Chiefs (1972 - Pres)Denver Broncos (1993 - 1996)
The Colts really are not very good and so a team like the Broncos, even with the offensive woes that they have, should have been able to go into Indianapolis and get a win. Instead, Andrew Luck played his best game of the season and the Broncos couldn't run the ball and Peyton Manning couldn't keep the ball out of the hands of the opposition. Their defense will rebound and I still don't have any confidence in this Kansas City offense.
Broncos 23 Chiefs 9

Cardinals (6-2) vs. Seahawks (4-4) - NBC, 8:30
Arizona Cardinals (1994 - 2004)Seattle Seahawks (2012 - Pres)
Arizona is a team that hasn't beaten anybody with a winning record this season but then again, neither have the Seahawks as their four wins have come against some awful teams like Chicago, Detroit, San Francisco and Dallas. I also wonder if the famed homefield advantage that the Seahawks have had in the past still applies. Give me the Cardinals here.
Cardinals 28 Seahawks 24

Monday, November 16th
Texans (3-5) vs. Bengals (8-0) - ESPN, 8:30
Houston Texans (2002 - Pres)Cincinnati Bengals (2004 - Pres)
The Bengals are big favorites on Monday night and it is easy to see why. First off, the Texans are terrible, even as they have won two of their last three, and they still don't have anything close to resembling a quarterback right now. Second, Cincinnati is a club that is very good and they showed that on last Thursday. The Bengals are my Lock of the Week.
Bengals 31 Texans 10

  1. Hi Ben
Last week my LOTW was a disaster and the Saints' so-called defence was a disgrace against the Titans. I assume Green Bay will be out for blood this Sunday and the Lions are definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time. So that's mine for Week 10. That said there seems no way the Texans can overcome Cincy either.

  2. Ben, in the preview for NO/WSH, you said the Saints to the Titans on the road. That game was actually played in New Orleans.
