2015 College Football Predictions: Week 1

(Ann Arbor News)
The 2015 College Football season kicks off this evening with some high profile contests, including the debut of one particularly noteworthy new head coach. Who will get their season off on the right foot? Here are my predictions for Week 1.

2015 Predictions

Thursday, September 3rd
North Carolina vs. South Carolina - Charlotte - ESPN, 6:00
Both teams do have their flaws but I still do not see that much of a difference in the North Carolina "defense" to where I see them keeping the Gamecocks at bay.
Pick: South Carolina

FIU vs. UCF - CBS Sports Network, 6:00
Pick: UCF

VMI vs. Ball State - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Ball State

Stony Brook vs. Toledo - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Toledo

Oklahoma State vs. Central Michigan - ESPNU, 7:00
Pick: Oklahoma State

Villanova vs. Connecticut - SNY, 7:30
Pick: Connecticut

Alcorn State vs. 16 Georgia Tech - Fox Sports Networks (ACC), 7:30
Pick: Georgia Tech

Western Kentucky vs. Vanderbilt - SEC Network, 8:00
Even as it's an SEC-Sun Belt showdown, give me the Hilltoppers.
Pick: Western Kentucky

Michigan vs. Utah - FS1, 8:30
Of all the games of the opening week, this just may have the most eyes on it with the debut of a Mr. Jim Harbaugh. I'm not a particularly huge fan of either club this season, even as I have both getting to a bowl, but I think the Maize and Blue will start the Harbaugh era off right.
Pick: Michigan

TCU vs. Minnesota - ESPN, 9:00
Although many eyes will be on the game above, this is certainly the best game of the opening Thursday with TCU aiming to play for a national title and Minnesota looking to be a serious B1G contender. TCU will get the win but the Gophers will keep it closer than the experts think.
Pick: TCU

Pick: Duke

Pick: Louisiana Tech

Alabama A&M vs. Cincinnati - Fox Sports Ohio, 7:00

With how good Bud Foster's defense is, you can never sleep on the Hokies and we know that Lane Stadium is a tough place to play. But even as Va Tech took out the Buckeyes last year in Columbus, their offense just doesn't have enough to hang on late.
