2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup: Semifinals Predictions

We have our Final Four, if you will, for the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The semifinals will be held later on today from the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Who will be playing for the tournament championship in Philadelphia on Sunday, and who will be in the third place contest in Chester on Saturday? Here are my predictions.

TV Schedule & Announcers

Wednesday, July 22nd - Atlanta
United States vs. Jamaica - FS1, 6:00
I think it may be fair to say that the United States may have been the best team of this tournament thus far. They were cleanly favored over Cuba but their 6-0 demolition was still very impressive. Jamaica is likewise undefeated but throughout the tournament, the Reggae Boyz have shown a less-than-impressive attack which may just be their downfall.
Pick: United States

Mexico vs. Panama - FS2, 9:00
As usual, folks are expecting there to be yet another USA-Mexico matchup in the final but with how inconsistent El Tri has been throughout this tournament, just about anything is possible (especially after that joke of a victory over Costa Rica). Panama may not have been that impressive in the group stage but they uncorked a nice win in penalties over Trinidad & Tobago. Can Los Canaleros defeat Mexico in the semifinals once again? Panama may have been unable to win in regulation and I think that trend of living on the edge will continue tonight, with them pulling it out once more.
Pick; Panama
