2015 FIFA Women's World Cup: Semifinal Predictions

As the calendar shifts from June into July, we are poised to put together the match for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup. Nobody should be too surprised by the final four teams in this tournament and we still have a legitimate chance at a rematch of the 2011 Women's World Cup Final. Who will be playing for the title on Sunday?

TV Schedule

Tuesday, June 30th
Germany vs. United States - Fox, 7:00
There is no question in my mind that the best team in this tournament has been that of Germany. They looked tremendous prior to the quarterfinals and then they won an absolute classic against France in a shootout. Meanwhile, the US has looked good this tournament but I have yet to see a truly impressive performance to this point. They would have to play at their absolute best to take out the Germans and I am, unfortunately, not that optimistic. Germany will advance.
Pick: Germany

Wednesday, July 1st
Japan vs. England - FS1, 7:00
The defending champion Japanese are poised to get back to the championship game once again. Their defense has been very stout thus far and it was against the Matildas on Saturday. Australia struggled to get offensive chances and when push came to shove, Japan was able to score off a late corner to get the win. England put together a nice win over the host Canada but it was not the kind of performance that I think can propel them against a superior club like here.
Pick: Japan
