2015 Mountain West Tournament Predictions

Another of the four conferences to hold their conference tournament in Sin City (specifically Paradise) is the Mountain West, who have only held their conference tournament there. Unlike in past years, the Mountain West seems to be lacking in the depth that it has had in past years with only three teams likely to get to the NCAA Tournament with some traditional powers having off years. That said, this is always a fun tournament and who knows who can break through and get that automatic bid to the Big Dance.

Here are my predictions for the 2015 Mountain West Tournament.

All games held at Thomas & Mack Center in Paradise, Nevada

First Round - Wednesday, March 11th
8 New Mexico vs. 9 Air Force - Mountain West Network, 3:00
Pick: New Mexico

7 UNLV vs. 10 Nevada - Mountain West Network, 5:30
Pick: UNLV

Quarterfinals - Thursday, March 12th
1 Boise State vs. 8 New Mexico - CBS Sports Network, 3:00
Pick: Boise State

4 Wyoming vs. 5 Utah State - CBS Sports Network, 5:30
Pick: Wyoming

2 San Diego State vs. 7 UNLV - CBS Sports Network, 9:00
UNLV lost both times these two played but both games were close. Don't rule out the upset here.
Pick: San Diego State

3 Colorado State vs. 6 Fresno State - CBS Sports Network, 11:30
Pick: Colorado State

Semifinals - Friday, March 13th
1 Boise State vs. 4 Wyoming - CBS Sports Network, 9:00
Wyoming not only has the confidence of having already defeated Boise State, they also have a very good defensive unit (only allowing 55.8 points-per-game) and a scorer in Larry Nance to lead the way.
Pick: Wyoming

2 San Diego State vs. 3 Colorado State - CBS Sports Network, 11:30
The Aztecs have an awesome defense but they can really struggle to score at times. Look for Colorado State to be in this game throughout and for their superior offense to lead the way to victory.
Pick: Colorado State

Championship - Saturday, March 14th
3 Colorado State vs. 4 Wyoming - CBS, 6:00
Wyoming did sweep the Rams this year but I think that CSU is still the superior club and one that is playing better right now. I like Larry Eustachy's club to get that conference title.
Pick: Colorado State
