2015 ACC Tournament Predictions

The Atlantic Coast Conference will kick off its tournament tomorrow, the first time it will be held on a Tuesday, and it will conclude on a Sunday for the first time in over 30 years. It will also feature one less team than the record 15 it fielded a year ago after Syracuse announced a self-imposed postseason ban last month ahead of expected NCAA sanctions that were handed down this week. The conference appears poised to be getting two one seeds in the upcoming NCAA Tournament but there are also some conference sitting on the bubble that could use some wins to secure at-large bids, if not getting that automatic bid.

Here are my predictions for the 2015 ACC Tournament.

All games held at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro

First Round - Tuesday, March 10th
12 Boston College vs. 13 Georgia Tech - ESPN2/ACC Network, 1:00
Pick: Boston College

11 Wake Forest vs. 14 Virginia Tech - ESPN2/ACC Network, 3:30
Pick: Wake Forest

Second Round - Wednesday, March 11th
8 Clemson vs. 9 Florida State - ESPN/ACC Network, 12;00
Pick: Florida State

5 North Carolina vs. 12 Boston College - ESPN/ACC Network, 2:00
Pick: North Carolina

7 NC State vs. 10 Pittsburgh - ESPN2/ACC Network, 7:00
Pick: NC State

6 Miami (FL) vs. 11 Wake Forest - ESPN2/ACC Network, 9:00
Pick: Miami (FL)

Quarterfinals - Thursday, March 12th
1 Virginia vs. 9 Florida State - ESPN/ACC Network, 12:00
Just like the last time these two played, this won't be a high-scoring contest. That said, the Noles don't have the offense to pull the big upset.
Pick: Virginia

4 Louisville vs. 5 North Carolina - ESPN/ACC Network, 2:00
The Cardinals are so inconsistent that if their offense isn't working, it truly is a mess. I think we will see that here.
Pick: North Carolina

2 Duke vs. 7 NC State - ESPN/ACC Network, 7:00
The Wolfpack have already upset Duke at home, can they do it at a neutral site and really bolster their at-large stock? I just don't see it.
Pick: Duke

3 Notre Dame vs. 6 Miami (FL) - ESPN/ACC Network, 9:00
Behind Jerian Grant, the Fighting Irish have one of the finest offenses in America. The Canes gave them a tough fight in South Bend but came up shy there, and they'll come up shy here.
Pick: Notre Dame

Semifinals - Friday, March 13th
1 Virginia vs. 5 North Carolina - ESPN/ACC Network, 7:00
The Cavaliers are so good defensively, even a very good offense like North Carolina's will be held in check.
Pick: Virginia

2 Duke vs. 3 Notre Dame - ESPN/ACC Network, 9:00
Offense, offense and more offense in this game. Duke crushed the Irish the last time they played at Cameron Indoor but I think we will see more of a result from the first time they played, a Notre Dame victory in South Bend.
Pick: Notre Dame

Championship - Saturday, March 14th
1 Virginia vs. 3 Notre Dame - ESPN/ACC Network, 7:00
The defensive woes of the Fighting Irish will come back to haunt them here as the Cavs will get just enough offense, while smoldering the offense of the Irish, to get their second straight tournament title.
Pick: Virginia
