2014 MAC Tournament Predictions

The 2014 Mid-American Tournament will commence this coming in legendary Cleveland, Ohio and I know you folks out there on the blogosphere are as excited as this man is. This MAC (insert jokes about the MAAC here) Tournament should be a good one so you should have your eyes peel this week for it as a number of squads could win the automatic bid to the NCAA's. And with that, here are my 2014 MAC Tournament predictions.

2014 MEAC Tournament Predictions

The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, also known as America's conference, kicks off their conference tourney Monday in the fabulous town of Norfolk. Now the MEAC is far from being a strong conference, actually having the second worst conference RPI in America, but we love conference tournaments (somewhat) so we'll have a ball.

Here are my 2014 MEAC Tournament predictions.

2014 Summit League Tournament Predictions

The 2014 Summit League Tournament kicks off this Saturday in the Queen City of the West. Now the Summit League has been won by South Dakota State the last two years, but while the Jackrabbits are not the favorite this year's tournament (that would likely be either North Dakota State or IPFW) but you know they will be in the mix.

And with that, here are my 2014 Summit League Tourney predictions.

2014 America East Tournament Predictions

The 2014 America East Championship kicks off this Saturday in Guiderland, New York at the University of Albany. Last year's tournament ended up with an upset champion with the fourth-seeded Albany Great Danes winning it all, becoming the lowest seed to ever win a conference tournament that, thanks to its nature of the highest remaining seed hosting the championship game, is generally dominated by the top two seeds. Will see an upset like what we saw last year, this year?

Here are my 2014 America East Championship predictions.

2014 MAAC Tournament Predictions

The 2014 Metro Atlantic Association Conference Tournament kicks off today in the great town of Springfield (I apologize in advance for not putting this out earlier). The MAAC (insert jokes about the MAC) always has a fun tournament with a lot of action, after all last year's tournament featured a 4-6 matchup in the championship and the top seed has not appeared in the championship since Siena had a threepeat from 2008-2010.

Here are my MAAC Tournament predictions for the 2014 edition.

2014 Southern Conference Tournament Predictions

Now who doesn't love Asheville, North Carolina? Not only is it a hell of a town, they love their hoops and with that, it is the home of the 2014 SoCon Tournament, which kicks off this Friday morning. It should be a good one, as it always is, with the defending champion Davidson Wildcats the slight favorite this weekend.  And with that, here is my 2014 Southern Conference Tournament predictions.

2014 CAA Tournament Predictions

The 2014 Colonial Athletic Association Tournament, starting this Friday, will be held in Baltimore this year, and that is a big deal. The reason why it is a big deal is that it is the first ever tournament held outside of the commonwealth of Virginia, so how about that. And I just noticed the crap in the tournament logo above, so everybody wins.

Here are my 2014 CAA Championship predictions.

2014 West Coast Conference Tournament Predictions

The first of many conference tournaments in Sin City, the West Coast Conference Tournament is always a fun one to watch but this one will be quite important. No team in guaranteed an at-large bid by any stretch from the WCC, meaning that for Gonzaga, BYU or anybody else, winning the conference tournament is all but a necessity at this point.

With that, here are my 2014 West Coast Conference Championship predictions.

2014 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Predictions

Because we love March Madness, we love Arch Madness (see what I did there?). And the Missouri Valley Tournament has a different tint to it this year as Wichita State, the first team since Saint Joe's in 2004 to finish the regular season undefeated and the first team since UNLV in 1991 to start 31-0, is poised to enter the NCAA Tournament undefeated and likely get a one seed. Of course, that is provided that they win the MVC Tournament. Will they get it done or will somebody snatch the auto-bid?

Here are my 2014 Arch Madness predictions.

2014 NFL Mock Draft: 8th Edition

March may be the month for hoops, but that does not mean we still won't be looking towards the NFL Draft. Here is my eighth NFL mock draft for 2014.

2014 Big South Tournament Predictions

If you are in the Myrtle Beach area this week, you might want to check out the Big South Tournament, being held in Conway on the campus of Coastal Carolina. It kicks off this Wednesday night and while the hosts, the Chanticleers, are thought to be very much in the mix to get to the NCAA's, there also may not be a clear favorite to win the tournament. You know, just the way college basketball be, eh?

Here are my 2014 Big South Championship predictions.

2014 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Predictions

The first team into the 2014 NCAA Tournament will be the champion of Music City Madness this Saturday night. So if you have any other reason to follow the Ohio Valley Championship, at least you have that. The top seed this year is Belmont, who won the tournament last year. There has not been a repeat champion since Murray State won three in a row from 1997-1999, but could the Bruins be the first since? Or will Murray, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State or somebody else win the OVC? Here are my predictions foor this week's action in Nashville.

Harold Reynolds & Tom Verducci to replace Tim McCarver

It has been rumored over the past few weeks but now Fox Sports has made it official, the replacements for Tim McCarver as the lead MLB on Fox analysts will be Harold Reynolds and Tom Verducci, who will debut with Joe Buck on April 5th as they will call Giants-Dodgers on Fox Sports 1. Both Reynolds and Verducci, who were and will continue to work for MLB Network, have been a part of Fox's coverage over the past couple of years with Reynolds working on the pregame show (formerly produced by MLBN) and Verducci working games last year and the year before. They will work with Buck on some regular season games, the All-Star Game, the NLCS, and the World Series.

It's a big day for Fox as McCarver had been their only lead analyst to this point. Here's my take.

2014 Northeast Conference Tournament Predictions

The Northeast Conference kicks off its conference tournament this Wednesday and whoever ends up winning the automatic bid will, at least traditionally, be giving a high seed a headache or two in the early rounds of March Madness. Therefore, you should be keeping a close eye on the NEC Tournament this week into the next.

And with that, here are my tournament predictions for the 2014 Northeast Conference Tournament.

2014 Horizon League Tournament Predictions

The 2014 Horizon League Tournament kicks off this Tuesday with all eyes seemingly on the Green Bay Phoenix. Green Bay has been the strongest team in Horizon League play all year, going 14-2 in the conference, and even notched an upset over Virginia early in the year. They have not made the NCAA Tournament in 20 years, with the legendary Dick Bennett coaching them in their last appearance in 1994. Can they get that tournament berth, or will Cleveland State, Wright State, Valpo or somebody else get that auto-bid?

Here are my Horizon League Championship predictions.

2014 Atlantic Sun Tournament Predictions

The Atlantic Sun tournament kicks off on Tuesday and it was the Atlantic Sun champions last year that became the darlings of March Madness last year in Florida Gulf Coast. The Eagles became known as "Dunk City" on the way to becoming the first fifteen seed to advance to the Sweet Sixteen. Now this go-around, the Eagles are the top seed in the tournament (they were the two seed last year) after winning out in a tiebreaker with Mercer, who they defeated last year. Will this year's tournament see a repeat in the title game?

Here are my Atlantic Sun Championship predictions.

2014 Patriot League Tournament Predictions

Couldn't have made a legitimate logo?
The first conference tournament to kick off is that of the Patriot League, which starts its expanded tournament tomorrow night. The Patriot League was thought to be in the safe hands of the Boston Terriers, who joined the conference from the America East Conference, but out of nowhere came the American Eagles, who were a preseason ranking in-conference of ninth. They started a school record 10-0 in conference including demolishing the Terriers in Washington by 30 in January.  However, AU finished 3-5 in their final eight games and BU won the conference title on Saturday as well as the important homecourt advantage (which traditionally leads to a tournament championship or at least a runner-up finish).

Who will win the Patriot League bid and advance to the 2014 NCAA Tournament? Here are my Patriot League tournament predictions.

The winners & losers of the 2014 MLB offseason

(Getty Images)
As spring training is underway and with baseball being back, I think it is a good time to take a look at the offseason and, because we love to divvy things up into winners and losers, see who won and lost the offseason.
