2014 College Football Predictions: Week 6

As the schedule turns to October, we really start to get into it in terms of conference play. There are some good games on top this week including Texas A&M-Mississippi State, Alabama-Ole Miss, Oklahoma-TCU, LSU-Auburn, Arizona State-USC, Nebraska-Michigan State and for those who still pine for nonconference action, Stanford-Notre Dame is a good one. Here are my picks for Week 6.

Thursday, October 2nd
FAU vs. FIU - Fox Sports 1, 7:00
Pick: FAU

UCF vs. Houston - ESPN, 7:00
Pick: Houston

Arizona vs. Oregon - ESPN, 10:30
You think we will get enough offense at Autzen?
Pick: Oregon

Friday, October 3rd
Louisville vs. Syracuse - ESPN, 7:00
It always is tough to play in the Carrier Dome, so the Cardinals better not be caught sleeping here.
Pick: Louisville

San Diego State vs. Fresno State - CBS Sports Network, 10:00
Pick: Fresno State

Utah State vs. 18 BYU - ESPN, 10:15
Pick: BYU

Saturday, October 4th
Purdue vs. Illinois - ESPN2, 12:00
Pick: Illinois

Ball State vs. Army - CBS Sports Network, 12:00
Pick: Army

Texas A&M vs. 12 Mississippi State - ESPN, 12:00
A&M is better than I thought, but so are the Cowboys. You know Kenny Hill will make some big plays but I loved how Mississippi State went into Death Valley and kicked LSU around. Give me the folks with the cowbells.
Pick: Mississippi State

Southern Miss vs. Middle Tennessee - American Sports Network, 12:00
Pick: Middle Tennessee

20 Ohio State vs. Maryland - ABC, 12:00
Yep, this is a Big Ten matchup. Oh, I'm sorry. B1G matchup.
Pick: Ohio State

Marshall vs. Old Dominion - Fox Sports Networks, 12:00
Marshall isn't ranked yet? Come on now. ODU is a sleepy club with their offense but the Herd should come out unscathed.
Pick: Marshall

SMU vs. 22 East Carolina - ESPNU, 12:00
East Carolina may hang 80 here.
Pick: East Carolina

Florida vs. Tennessee - SEC Network, 12:00
I really liked what I saw out of the Vols last Saturday and I think that continues here at home.
Pick: Tennessee

Iowa State vs. 21 Oklahoma State - Fox Sports 1, 12:00
Pick: Oklahoma State

Virginia Tech vs. North Carolina - ACC Network, 12:30
Pick: Virginia Tech

Eastern Michigan vs. Akron - ESPN3, 2:00
Pick: Akron

North Texas vs. Indiana - BTN, 2:30
Pick: Indiana

Massachusetts vs. Miami (OH) - ESPN3, 2:30
Pick: Miami (OH)

Tulsa vs. Colorado State - Mountain West Network, 3:00
Pick: Colorado State

Oklahoma vs. 25 TCU - Fox, 3:30
Is TCU good enough to pull off the home upset? I'm not sure but it should be a fine football game.
Pick: Oklahoma

Alabama vs. 11 Ole Miss - CBS, 3:30
The folks in the Grove should have fun with the GameDay folks in town for the first time ever, and this is a good Rebels squad. That said, Alabama is going to run away with this.
Pick: Alabama

14 Stanford vs. Notre Dame - NBC, 3:30
With Stanford first in points allowed and Notre Dame fourth, this won't be a high-scorer. Stanford has played tougher competition but I don't think they have looked all that great. I think the Irish at home will get it done.
Pick: Notre Dame

17 Wisconsin vs. Northwestern - ESPN2, 3:30
Pick: Wisconsin

Navy vs. Air Force - CBS Sports Network, 3:30
Pick: Navy

Baylor vs. Texas - ABC, 3:30
If Texas can keep it close, even at home, they should be happy.
Pick: Baylor

Wake Forest vs. 1 Florida State - ABC, 3:30
Pick: Florida State

NC State vs. Clemson - ESPNU, 3:30
Pick: Clemson

Buffalo vs. Bowling Green - BCSN, 3:30
Pick: Bowling Green

Ohio vs. Central Michigan - ESPN3, 3:30
Pick: Ohio

New Mexico vs. UTSA - American Sports Network, 3:30
Pick: UTSA

Oregon State vs. Colorado - Pac-12 Networks, 4:00
Pick: Oregon State

Vanderbilt vs. 13 Georgia - SEC Network, 4:00
Pick: Georgia

Kansas vs. West Virginia - Fox Sports Networks, 4:00
Pick: West Virginia

Kent State vs. Northern Illinois - ESPN3, 5:00
Pick: Northern Illinois

15 LSU vs. Auburn - ESPN, 7:00
Could the Tigers (on the road) actually be the worst team in the SEC West? It's not that crazy. That said, Les Miles always has something up his sleeve and while I am crazy, I like LSU.
Pick: LSU

Texas Tech vs. 23 Kansas State - ESPNU, 7:00
Pick: Kansas State

Michigan vs. Rutgers - BTN, 7:00
This game is all kinds of awful, particularly after Brady Hoke's disgraceful coaching display this past week, so let's listen to the Sports Pope crush Rutgers.
Pick: Rutgers

Memphis vs. Cincinnati - CBS Sports Network, 7:00
Pick: Cincinnati

Hawaii vs. Rice - American Sports Network, 7:00
Pick: Rice

UTEP vs. Louisiana Tech - Fox College Sports, 7:00
Pick: Louisiana Tech

UAB vs. Western Kentucky - 7:00
Pick: Western Kentucky

Louisiana-Monroe vs. Arkansas State - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Arkansas State

Idaho vs. Texas State - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Texas State

Toledo vs. Western Michigan - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Toledo

Georgia State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette

Miami (FL) vs. Georgia Tech - ESPN2, 7:30
The U looked good against Duke this past week, while GT has looked good all year. However, I don't love how the Hurricanes have looked on the road so I think the Yellow Jackets can pull out a tight one.
Pick: Georgia Tech

Pittsburgh vs. Virginia - ACC FSN, 7:30
Pick: Virginia

South Carolina vs. Kentucky - SEC Network, 7:30
Pick: South Carolina

Arizona State vs. 16 USC - Fox, 7:30
USC isn't great offensively, but strong defensively. Arizona State is great on offense but a mess defensively. I don't think they can get the stops a road team would have to get here.
Pick: USC

UNLV vs. San Jose State - ESPNEWS, 8:00
Pick: UNLV

Georgia Southern vs. New Mexico State - ESPN3, 8:00
Pick: Georgia Southern

19 Nebraska vs. 10 Michigan State - ABC, 8:00
Both teams are actually in the top seven in scoring and both have looked strong on defense. I do think the Spartans are better on paper and they are at home.
Pick: Michigan State

Utah vs. UCLA - ESPN, 10:30
How about the Bruins finally looking impressive this past Thursday? That said, Utah is a sneaky team.
Pick: UCLA

California vs. Washington State - Pac-12 Networks, 10:30
Pick: Washington State

Boise State vs. Nevada - CBS Sports Network, 10:30
Pick: Boise State
