2014 NBA Playoffs: Conference Finals Predictions

And then there were four. We had reached the conference finals stage of the 2014 NBA Playoffs which, for the first time since the 2005 NBA Playoffs, has the top two seeds in each conference still alive. Who will advance to the 2014 NBA Finals? Here are my predictions.

TV Schedule

Indiana Pacers vs. 2 Miami Heat
Indiana does deserve credit for somewhat looking the team they were before the spring against the Wizards, but they still let a somewhat inferior club take them to six without looking dominant. The key for the Pacers will be Roy Hibbert as he is something Miami can struggle to defend, but he has been so hit or miss this postseason that I have trouble being able to count on him. And as a whole, their offense has not been looking strong enough to fight past an excellent Heat defense. Indiana's defense will snag them a game, but little more.

San Antonio Spurs vs. 2 Oklahoma City Thunder
This had all the making of an awesome series between two tremendous teams, but the Thunder losing Serge Ibaka for the rest of the postseason due to a calf injury is a big loss. That is not to say that the Thunder have no chance to win this series, they do have a couple of guys named Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook who have been fantastic offensively. But Ibaka was the key defensive force in the paint for the Thunder, and he is very tough to replace on that end. He also gave the Thunder a key paint threat offensively that was key for an offense that could be a little hit or miss. Plus, you have a Spurs team that is as dangerous and as hungry as ever, and with nobody that can shut down Tim Duncan defensively, the Thunder will come up just short.
