Tony Reali to join Good Morning America

Of all the folks part of the vast ESPN empire, the so-called "Worldwide Leader in Sports" if you will, one of the more underrated talents at the network is Tony Reali, the host of Around the Horn since replacing Max Kellerman in 2004 and the afectionately-labeled "Stat Boy" at Pardon the Interruption since joining the show in 2001. But now his star will continue rise as The Hollywood Reporter broke the news this morning that he will be adding a regular role on ABC's Good Morning America.

Reali's new role will be as a social media contributor to the top-ranked morning program as part of their "Social Square." His role is similar to the one that Carson Daly fills on Today. While the amount he will appear on the program is still to be determined, it is expected that he will appear two or three times a week.

As a result of this move, Around the Horn will move from the ABC News Washington bureau, where it tapes alongside PTI, to the Times Square studio that also hosts Olbermann. While he will maintain his role on ATH, he will be giving up his duties on PTI.

This is another move that GMA has made to add to their male contingent in the wake of Josh Elliott's departure to NBC Sports. They recently added Michael Strahan as a contributor to their first hour and now with the Reali addition, what was and still is a female-dominated show still has some testerone beyond co-host George Stephanopoulos.

While it certainly is a shame that Reali will be leaving the greatness that is PTI, it is great to simultaneously see a talented personality such as him gaining a bigger profile with the opportunity for greater exposure in the next step of his career.
