2014 Big East Tournament Predictions

It is a new era for the Big East Tournament after the dissolution of what the old Big East, with the "Catholic 7" non-football schools left to start their own conference, which maintained the Big East name, while the football schools went to form the American Athletic Conference. While some of the familiar faces are gone, many of them remain and the tournament will continue to go on in Madison Square Garden. So there's that.

And with that, here are my 2014 Big East Tournament predictions.

First Round - March 12th
#9 Butler vs. #8 Seton Hall - Fox Sports 1, 7:00
Pick: Seton Hall

#10 DePaul vs. #7 Georgetown - Fox Sports 1, 9:30
Pick: Georgetown

Quarterfinals - March 13th
#8 Seton Hall vs. #1 Villanova - Fox Sports 1, 1:00
Pick: Villanova

#5 St. John's vs. #4 Providence - Fox Sports 1, 3:30
Pick: Providence

#7 Georgetown vs. #2 Creighton - Fox Sports 1, 7:00
Can Hoya Saxon upset the Blue Jays for the second time in a row? I'm not feeling it.
Pick: Creighton

#6 Marquette vs. #3 Xavier - Fox Sports 1, 9:30
The Golden Eagles can surprise a number of folks in this tournament and go deeper than expected, but they do come in losing three in a row, so they are going to really get off the schneid. However, this team is also more like the one when they beat Xavier in February than in January, so I'll go upset here.
Pick: Marquette

Semifinals - March 14th
#4 Providence vs. #1 Villanova - Fox Sports 1, 7:00
I think the Friars are rather underrated, I love their defense and I'm a big Bryce Cotton fan. And I also think the Wildcats are rather overrated, and prime to be upset.
Pick: Providence

#6 Marquette vs. #2 Creighton - Fox Sports 1, 9:30
Creighton is a bad matchup for a team that cannot score, even as Marquette has improved of late.
Pick: Creighton

Championship - March 15th
#4 Providence vs. #2 Creighton - Fox Sports 1, 8:30
Providence has beaten Creighton before so they are capable of pulling the upset, but I think Creighton's pop from the perimeter will be too much to overcome.
Pick: Creighton
