2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup Predictions

Could use some photoshop skills here
It certainly was a wild a wild race on Saturday night to set the 2013 field for the Chase for the Sprint Cup as the picture numerous times during the race, and with plenty of controversy surrounding one intentional spin to get a teammate into the big show and thus Martin Truex, Jr. was thrown out of the Chase, Ryan Newman was put into the Chase and Clint Bowyer was docked 50 points as were all MWR drivers (although Bowyer's will not affect his Chase position). And if that was not enough, as a result by some shenanigans on the part of Penske Racing, we have a 13th driver with Jeff Gordon getting added to the mix just today. We know we will not have a repeat champion as Brad Keselowski missed the field but with nine out of the 13 drivers not having a championship, could we see a first-time champ? Here are my predictions for the 2013 Chase.

2013 NFL Predictions: Week 2

We certainly had ourselves a wild and fun opening week to the 2013 NFL season, with a bunch of surprises across the board and on the whole very competitive football, it certainly set the stage for what just may be a great season. Will the greatness continue in week two? Here are my predictions.

2013 College Football Predictions: Week 3

It's not that often that perhaps the most anticipated game of the year takes place in week three, but that appears to be the case as all eyes are going to be on College Station and Kyle Field as defending Heisman winner Johnny Manziel will lead the Aggies of Texas A&M against the defending national champs, the Crimson Tide of Alabama. Of course, it was the Aggies that went into Tuscaloosa and upset the Tide last year in a great game that helped drive Manziel's Heisman campaign but can the Aggies, will all the distractions surrounding Manziel and his shenanigans, do it again? Here are my predictions for the third week of the 2013 college football season.

Watch the Tennessee Titans kick off 2013 with a safety on the opening kickoff

If you are the Pittsburgh Steelers, this has to be the easiest way to pick up points ever right? Titans receiver Darius Reynaud fielded the opening kickoff on the bounce and then took a knee. The only problem? The ball never crosses the goal line, resulting in a safety and two points (and the football) for the Steelers. Beautiful stuff, let's go to the tape.

Did Clint Bowyer spin on purpose to get Martin Truex, Jr. into the Chase? UPDATED

As the laps were winding down before the 2013 Chase for the Sprint Cup field was to be set last night at Richmond, Ryan Newman, on the bubble himself, was on his way to a huge victory which would get himself into the field. And if Newman were to win, Martin Truex, Jr. would be on the outside, just missing the Chase field. But then, Truex's teammate, Clint Bowyer, spun out by himself with seven laps to go. As a result of his spin and the ensuing caution, the leaders came down to pit and thus in the end, Carl Edwards won, Newman finished third, Truex finished seventh and thus it was he who got into the Chase on the basis of a tiebreaker. The spin also affected Jeff Gordon, who was in the Chase before the spin but ended up missing out with Joey Logano getting in. But it is that spin that has everybody in the NASCAR world talking.

Update: NASCAR has dropped the hammer on MWR. All MWR drivers were docked 50 points, dropping Truex out of the Chase and putting Newman in. Competition director Ty Norris has also been suspended indefinitely.
