Watch Anthony Davis do some awesome things

Anthony Davis is an athletic freak, and I think that is a consensual opinion. Even knowing that fact, this sequence from the Team USA Las Vegas Showcase is just about breaktaking and epic. After all, anytime somebody snags an alley-oop lob out of the air is impressive enough, but it does not end there. Let's go to the videotape.

2013 MLB on Fox: July 27th

Remember when this happened? Well that is what happened the last time the Braves and Cardinals played, in that infamous Wild Card game when the infield fly rule extended to left field, playing a key part in St. Louis advancing. With the game taking place at Busch Stadium, I doubt we will see things thrown onto the field, but as one of my good friends taught me, you can never say never. That will be the lead game on Fox Saturday Baseball with much of the country seeing that, while others will see either Athletics-Angels or Mets-Nationals. 2013 Fox College Football Announcers

Fox's college football coverage, ahead of the much-ballyhooed debut of Fox Sports 1 next month and the second season of college football on the Fox network, is under a fair amount of changes to its broadcast teams as well as in the studio. Let's take a look at the announcing corps for the Fox Sports consortium this year.

Dick Vitale's tweet at Bill Clinton is fantastic

Dick Vitale is one of a kind and he personifies that frequently on his Twitter feed. Therefore, it was only natural for when Bill Clinton tweeted about his famous 1961 visit with John F. Kennedy at the White House that Dickie V would pounce. Let's go to the tape.

Breaking down NASCAR's new TV deal with NBC & Fox

As first reported by the great John Ourand and Tripp Mickle of Sports Business Daily, there is going to be a little bit of a sea change in the NASCAR on television sphere. Turner and ESPN are both out and will be replaced by NBC, who is jumping back into NASCAR after losing rights after the 2006 then-Nextel Cup season. NBC and NBC Sports Network will gain the rights to 20 Sprint Cup races and 19 Nationwide race, which factors in with Fox re-upping their 13 races. Fox owns the rights to the remaining Cup and Nationwide races, with seven Cup races and all Nationwide races on Fox Sports 1. Fox and NBC shared television rights in the last deal from 2001-2006, which was NASCAR's first ever centralized TV contract.

All in all, I love this deal for the sport and for the fans and here is why.

What the suspension of Ryan Braun means

Quite possibly the first domino has fallen in the Biogenesis situation as Brewers star Ryan Braun was suspended for the balance of the 2013 season by Major League Baseball. Braun of course failed a drug test over a year ago, but was able to get out of a suspension by winning his appeal on a technicality. Therefore, once his name was connected to Anthony Bosch and the Biogenesis clinic, there was no way that MLB was going to let Braun slide away once more. And now that he hasn't, this may very well mean that the league is about to go hard after all of those connected to Biogenesis, with one notable in particular.

Why Nate Silver is ESPN's biggest hire in a long time

Not even a week after pulling a surprise and bringing Keith Olbermann back to the "Worldwide Leader," ESPN made an even more shocking hire for with the announcement that they had hired Nate Silver. He of course is the guy that dove deep into the numbers and thus correctly predict the winner of every state in the 2012 Presidential Election, but he made his bones in developing PECOTA, a form of sabermetrics used to predict performance for MLB players, as well as writing for Baseball Prospectus. Besides serving as a part-time panelist on Olbermann's ESPN2 program, he will move his blog, FiveThirtyEight, to ESPN and will be run independently similarly to Grantland, and will also contribute to ABC News during election years.

Without a doubt was this a major coup for ESPN, and I have reason to believe that this may be ESPN's biggest hire in years.

Are the Nationals going to get it together this year?

Manager Davey Johnson
A preseason darling of many, including myself, the Washington Nationals may just be the biggest disappointment in baseball this year. After coming out after the All-Star Break and getting swept by the Dodgers of Los Angeles, they are now sitting at 48-50, in third place in the NL East and seven games out of the Wild Card. Are they going to be able to avoid having 2013 be labeled a disappointment and make the playoffs?
