Belmont wins the 2013 OVC Tournament in thrilling fashion over Murray State

Coach Rick Byrd cuts down the nets
We were all hoping for a memorable game between Belmont and Murray State in the 2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Final and that is certainly what we got thanks to heroics from a Bruin and a crucial blunder by a Racer as it was Belmont, who trailed for almost the entire game, who held off their opponents in a 70-68 overtime final. The heroics came from Bruins senior guard Kerron Johnson, who hit the game-tying shot to get this ballgame to OT and then he nailed the game-winner with less than a second left. The blunder came from Murray point guard Isiaiah Canaan, who committed a backcourt violation late in the second half that led to Johnson's winner.

Teams on the bubble can sleep easier tonight that Murray State did not snatch a bid. This is Belmont's first OVC title as it was their first season in the conference.

Don't tell ESPN that Duke did beat North Carolina

Nobody loves a scoreboard fail more than this guy and this just happened. Let me preface this by saying that Duke just smoked North Carolina in Chapel Hill by a 69-53 final. Or did North Carolina actually win by a 62-56 score. Does ESPN know something that we do not?

In all seriousness, how does that happen? And it wasn't even the right score, that's what makes this even worse.

Florida Gulf Coast wins the 2013 Atlantic Sun Tourney, headed to March Madness

We have got our first team in the 2013 NCAA Tournament and it is the Eagles of Florida Gulf Coast University, as they won the 2013 Atlantic Sun Tournament today by defeating the Mercer Bears 88-75 in Macon. This will be the first time that FGCU will be playing in March Madness. They were led by sophomore guard Brett Comer (21 points), senior guard Sherwood Brown (16 points, 11 boards) and junior forward Chase Fieler (15 points). And don't forget, this is the same club that upset Miami by 12 at home back in November.

And yes, I predicted this tournament correctly. This may be the only time this happens, so I will celebrate accordingly.

2013 CAA Tournament Predictions

For what is usually a quality mid-major conference, the Colonial Athletic Association was a disappointment during the 2012-2013 season. They fell from being 15th in the conference RPI to 24th and they will be a one-bid league with a low seeding. Plus, only seven teams will be in the conference tournament due to Old Dominion and Georgia State leaving the league and Towson and UNC-Wilmington having too low APR scores. All of that said, it really could be a wide open tourney this weekend in Richmond. Here are my 2013 CAA Tournament predictions.

2013 Summit League Tournament Predictions

Have you ever been to Sioux Falls? I haven't, but I am intrigued so if you have and you know it is great, leave a comment below. That said, since I am doing predictions for each and every conference tournament this year because I felt like doing so, here are my predictions for the 2013 Summit League Tournament.

2013 America East Tournament Predictions

It always is a fun time at the America East Basketball Tournament, particularly because the first two rounds take place just outside the great city of Albany (let's not kid ourselves, Albany sucks). This year's tournament probably would have been better had Boston been in it but since BU is heading to the Patriot League, the conference is preventing them from playing in the tournament. And on that note, here are my predictions.

2013 Southern Conference Tournament Predictions

As I have said, I am going to do predictions for every conference tournament because I am that guy. Let's take a look at the Southern Conference, which only had three teams above .500 and that could make for a wild tournament in Asheville. Here are my predictions.

2013 Sun Belt Tournament Predictions

I hear Hot Springs is nice, but I have never been, so going to see the Sun Belt Tournament would be a good excuse, right? Well, I will not be able to venture out there but do know that since I am doing predictions for every conference tournament because I am insane, I will be doing predictions for this year's Belt tourney. In fact, here they are right now.

2013 NFL Mock Draft: 9th Edition

Florida DT Sharrif Floyd
It may be March and thus you are thinking about another sport at this time (as am I) but we have our own kind of madness going on right now in the NFL Draft world. Okay maybe not, but do we have some changes at the top of the board thanks to some moves by teams with the top picks, so there is that. Let's take a look at my newest mock draft.

Is Darrelle Revis done with the Jets? And where is he headed?

The song and dance between the New York Jets and cornerback Darrelle Revis may be coming to an end. Revis wants a big contract, the organization has not been willing to give him what he wants in what all started back in training camp of 2010. And now it appears that the Jets are ready to move on, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, with one source saying that he is "gone." So where could the so-called "Revis Island" be headed?

2013 MAAC Tournament Predictions

Springfield, what a great town. My father went to college there. Actually, that's the only nice thing I can say about Hoop City, other than that is where basketball was invented. That said, here are my predictions for the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament.

Breaking down the new FOX Sports 1

The worst kept secret in television since NBC tried to oust Ann Curry from Today is now official as today in New York, the FOX Sports Media Group announced their new sports network, FOX Sports 1. SPEED will relaunch as FS1 on August 17 of this year and will debut in around 90 million homes (although that number could change once FOX negotiates with the cable providers). We have seen others try to launch competitors to ESPN, most notably with NBC and the NBC Sports Network and to a lesser extent CBS and CBS Sports Network, but will FS1 be any different?

2013 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Predictions

Legitimate question, how can anybody hate Arch Madness? I think it is not possible and therefore it is good news that the 2013 Missouri Valley Tournament kicks off from St. Louis this Thursday night. The MVC is not as strong as in recent years and will in all likelihood end up as a two-bid league, with the favorites being Creighton, who is led by the sensational Doug McDermott, and Wichita State. But we seemingly always have somebody come out of nowhere in this tournament, could it happen again? Here are my predictions for Arch Madness 2013.

2013 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Predictions

Looking for an easy excuse to spend an extended weekend in the great town of Nashville? Why not check out the Ohio Valley Tournament at the Nashville Memorial Auditorium? Watch some good basketball at a low price, experience the night life, why not? I'm not sure why I am working as a de facto travel agent for the OVC but alas, here are my predictions for the 2013 edition of Music City Madness.

2013 West Coast Conference Tournament Predictions

In what is the first of several tournaments in Las Vegas the next two weeks (although semantically speaking this is in Paradise), the West Coast Conference Tournament commences their tournament on Wednesday at the Orleans Hotal and Casino. Gonzaga is clearly the heavy favorite but could Saint Mary's pull a surprise, if not somebody else? Since I do have a stated goal of doing predictions for every conference tournament, here are my predictions for the 2013 WCC Tourney.

Vote for the KCOU Big Three One-Hit Wonders Bracket

Enlarge for more greatness
So the heroes at KCOU's The Big Three were looking for a non-basketball tournament for this month and me, being a loyal listener, suggested a tournament of one-hit wonders. It was uproariously approved. Jeff Parles and I worked on this bracket and voila, the final product is what you see above. I am sponsoring this tournament so I urge you to print out this tournament, send your bracket to and vote for the winners at @BigThreeKCOU (schedule is after the jump) and the winner will win a free KCOU t-shirt with everybody's signature, including mine somehow. Again, send your brackets to their twitter handle with submissions due at 5 on Wednesday evening. If this is not the greatest thing ever, I don't know what is.

2013 Northeast Conference Tournament Predictions

The champion of the Northeast Conference always seems to be a pesky out come March Madness for the top teams and that should give you a good reason to keep an eye on the 2013 NEC Tournament this week and into next. And by the way, Ruby Tuesday is a solid restaurant so if they are reading this, maybe I can cop some free food or something. Sponsor plugs aside, here are my predictions for the 2013 NEC Tourney.

2013 Patriot League Tournament Predictions

Should be an interesting Patriot League Tournament this year. As always, the conference will be a one-bid league with the clear favorite being Mike Muscala and the Bison of Bucknell, who won the regular season title for the fourth year in a row. But could Lehigh make a run, particularly if C.J. McCollum somehow comes back from his ankle injury? What about Lafayette, who has won five in a row, including one over Bucknell? Here are my predictions for the tournament because after all, I am doing previews for every conference tourney.

2013 Atlantic Sun Tournament Predictions

I know you are in the process of purchasing your plane tickets to Macon to attend the 2013 Atlantic Sun Tournament this week, as this is traditionally the first conference tournament and thus gets the first team into March Madness. Therefore, as I have a stated goal of doing predictions for each and every conference tournament, mostly because I'm insane, partially because I love to do this stuff, here are my predictions for the Atlantic Sun Tournament.

Is Keith Olbermann headed back to ESPN?

This has to be one of the more surprising items I have seen in a while. And I'll just throw it out there, Keith Olbermann is apparently angling for a triumphant return back to ESPN. James Miller, who wrote the tremendous ESPN book Those Guys Have All The Fun, broke the news in the New York Times that Olbermann and his folks have approached ESPN and he even had dinner with the president of the network. John Skipper. Skipper himself even said that Olbermann was "clearly looking to see if there was an entry point" to return. I'll pause to let you pull your jaw off the floor.

2013 Big South Tournament Predictions

This is exciting, the Big South Tournament this year will be held in a brand new venue, the HTC Center on the campus of Coastal Carolina. Not only that, it's darn close to Myrtle Beach, which I hear is a great place. And on that note, since I have a goal of doing conference tournament previews because I am nuts, here are my predictions for the 2013 Big South Basketball Tournament.

2013 Horizon League Tournament Predictions

Don't lie to me, you would only watch the Horizon League Tournament for Butler, there is nothing wrong with that. But there is still some quality hoops to be played this week and into next and there is an NCAA Tournament bid on the line, after all. Since I do have a stated goal of doing predictions for every conference tournament, here are my predictions for the 2013 Horizon League Tourney.

Watch Dennis Rodman discuss his trip to North Korea

Dennis Rodman has returned stateside after his bizarre trip to North Korea and meeting with dictator Kim Jong-Un and he sat down with noted basketball savant George Stephanopoulos discuss. Rodman, looking like he came straight out of that Geico motorcycle commercial, made some questionable (surprise?) comments about the country and its human rights record, at one point saying "we do the same thing here" and seemed to defend the nation's dictator. Let's go to the videotape.
