Should Gonzaga be number 1?

With top ranked Indiana falling once again this week, this time to Minnesota, students at Gonzaga University were understandably ecstatic. Duke falling to Virginia made the excitement even greater. Both games leave the second ranked Bulldogs in prime position to become the number one team in the country come Monday, provided they take care of business at home against an 11-19 Portland club that they beat by 22 earlier this year? But does Gonzaga deserve their first top ranking in school history?

2013 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Combine Edition

And with Rich Eisen's dash, the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine has come to a conclusion. Many prospects, such as the pictured Dion Jordan of Oregon, greatly helped their draft stock, while many have hurt their stock for a variety of reasons. So with all of that, how does the 2013 NFL Draft look right now? Let's take a look at my post-combine mock.

Did this Wizards announcer really call an airball as a game-winning shot?

Steve Buckhantz, the television broadcaster for the Washington Wizards, is considered to be a legend in these parts but he had himself an absolutely hilarious folly at the end of the Pistons-Wizards game this evening. The Wizards had a chance to win it on their final possession when they settled for a contested Trevor Ariza threeball and when Buckhantz dropped his famous "DAGGER" call, it appeared that the Wizards won. And he said this even as the Pistons were visibly celebrated on the court while the Wizards looked disappointed. Why? Because Ariza's shot was an airball. Let's go to the videotape.

Breaking down the Alex Smith trade to Kansas City

Van Heusen commercial?
We have seen the end of the Alex Smith trade saga now as it was announced today that the 49ers will be sending Smith to Kansas City and will receive a second-round pick in this year's draft as well as a pick in next year's. How does this deal, which will go into effect on March 12 when the trading period, break down for both clubs?

Watch the Pacers and the Warriors engage in a little brawl

Remember in the late 1990's when brawls broke out relatively frequently in the NBA and punishments were not that strong? Fortunately, the Malice ended that but we still see brawls breaking out every now and again. And we saw one last night during the Pacers' 108-97 victory over the Warriors when Indiana center Roy Hibbert shoved David Lee hard under the basket and it escalated from there, including Hibbert forcing Stephen Curry to the ground. Let's go to the videotape.

Watch Rich Eisen run the 40-yard dash with the help of Leon Sandcastle

Without question, the best part of every NFL Combine is when it is closed out by Rich Eisen running the 40-yard dash. This was the ninth edition of Eisen's run and yes, it has been that long. And for the most part, Eisen had seen his score drop every time from 6.77 in 2005 to 6.03 last year. Will he crack six seconds? For that he turned to the incomparable Leon Sandcastle for some assistance. Let's go to the videotape.

Breaking down the winners and losers of the NHL's new realignment plan

You are looking at the new realignment plan for the NHL, as broken by the great Elliotte Friedman of Hockey Night in Canada. As you can recall, the prior realignment plan from the winter of 2011 was rejected by the Players' Association and it looks similar, but it is not quite the same with this new plan, with the most notable being Columbus and Detroit moving to the "Eastern side" of the league. So while this plan is not set in stone, with the pesky NHLPA a looming obstacle, who would benefit and who would not in this new plan?

When will the Chicago Blackhawks lose in regulation?

RW Andrew Shaw
Now I have seen many things over the years, but quite frankly, I have not seen anything like what the Chicago Blackhawks are doing right now. In case you have missed it, the Blackhawks have yet to lose any game in regulation, putting up a record of 18-0-3 and they have captured 39 out of a possible 42 points on the season. That is a league-record 21-game point streak Yeah, that's pretty damn good.

So the question must be asked, when will Chicago lose in regulation? Because it has to happen one of these days, right?

How will Star Lotulelei's heart condition affect his draft stock?

Utah defensive tackle Star Lotulelei arrived for the Combine one of the elite prospects in the draft and considered to be a top-five lock. He will leave Indianapolis with his draft status in some question after it was discovered during his physical that he has a left ventricle in his heart that it is pumping at only 44 percent efficiency, lower than the normal range of 55 to 70 percent. Lotulelei decided not to participate in workouts today and his agent said that he will see a specialist back in Utah this week.

What does this unexpected development due to Lotulelei's draft stock? Could he see a sharp fall out of the top ten, if not the top five?

Watch 50 Cent randomly and awkwardly kiss Erin Andrews at the Daytona 500

This certainly was one of the more bizarre things that we have seen at the Daytona 500. Erin Andrews was moving down pit road to try to get an interview with pole-sitter Danica Patrick for the pre-race show on FOX when 50 Cent popped out of nowhere and dove right in to pop a kiss. Yeah, it was awkward. Let's go to the videotape.

2013 Daytona 500 Preview

Could this be the most anticipated running of the Daytona 500 ever? It may seem crazy, but considering the factors of today's race, particularly a certain person on the pole, it probably is a true statement. There are 43 drivers running for the most presitious race in NASCAR and the Harley J. Earl Trophy. Who will win the Great American Race?
