2013 College Football Predictions: Week 4

After all the hype and all the awesome play for the showdown in College Station with Alabama coming out on top, it will be hard for this week to live up to that but there are some fine games this week. Perhaps the strongest game will take place in Palo Alto Saturday night where the Arizona State Sun Devils, coming off a pretty controversial victory over Wisconsin, will try to upset the Cardinal of Stanford. Here are my week three college football picks.

Thursday, September 19, 2013
#3 Clemson vs. N.C. State - ESPN, 7:30
The Wolfpack came very close to falling to Richmond this past week, so this does not bode well.
Pick: Clemson

Friday, September 20, 2013
Boise State vs. Fresno State - ESPN, 9:00
Who is the king of the Mountain West? This is possibly a conference title game preview. Boise has gotten their act together after the embarrassing Washington loss, but I think Derek Carr can go to town on them.
Pick: Fresno State

Saturday, September 21, 2013
Louisiana Tech vs. Kansas - Fox Sports 1, 12:00
Kansas is awful, I'm sorry (actually I'm not).
Pick: Louisiana Tech

North Carolina vs. Georgia Tech - ESPN, 12:00
When the option is cranking, it is mighty tough to stop.
Pick: Georgia

San Jose State vs. Minnesota - ESPN2, 12:00
Pick: Minnesota

Marshall vs. Virginia Tech - ESPNU, 12:00
Pick: Virginia Tech

Vanderbilt vs. UMass - ESPNEWS, 12:00
Pick: Vanderbilt

North Texas vs. Georgia - SEC TV, 12:00
Pick: Georgia

Wake Forest vs. Army - CBS Sports Network, 12:00
Pick: Wake Forest

Florida A&M vs. #4 Ohio State - BTN, 12:00
Pick: Ohio State

Western Michigan vs. Iowa - BTN, 12:00
Pick: Iowa

FIU vs. #7 Louisville - AAC Network, 12:00
Pick: Louisville

Middle Tennessee vs. FAU - CSS, 12:00
Pick: Middle Tennessee

Toledo vs. Central Michigan - ESPN +, 12:00
Pick: Toledo

Pittsburgh vs. Duke - ACC Network, 12:30
The Panthers got a much needed win last week and they should keep it up.
Pick: Pittsburgh

Tulane vs. Syracuse - ACC Network, 12:30
Pick: Syracuse

Ball State vs. Eastern Michigan - ESPN3, 1:00
Pick: Ball State

Jacksonville State vs. Georgia State - ESPN3, 2:00
Pick: Jacksonville State

Idaho State vs. Washington - Pac-12 Network, 3:00
Pick: Washington

Houston vs. Rice (Reliant Stadium) - FSN, 3:00
It has been a few years since the Owls won the Bayou Bucket, but they will get it back this time.
Pick: Rice

Northwestern State vs. UAB - CBSSports.com ULive, 3:00
Pick: UAB

Michigan State vs. #22 Notre Dame - NBC, 3:30
Sparty's offense has been dreadful save for a beatdown of Youngstown State, and I have little confidence that they can move the ball in South Bend.
Pick: Notre Dame

Purdue vs. #24 Wisconsin - ABC/ESPN2, 3:30
The Boilermakers came pretty close to taking out the Irish before falling apart in the 4th. Against an angry Wisconsin team, they will struggle to eclipse that.
Pick: Wisconsin

Utah State vs. USC - ABC/ESPN2, 3:30
The Trojans are not that bad, right? They did smoke BC, so there's that.
Pick: USC

Tennessee vs. #19 Florida - CBS, 3:30
Florida always makes it ugly thanks to an excellent defense and a mediocre-to-bad offense. I think Butch Jones goes into the Swamp and pulls off his first big win.
Pick: Tennessee

Arkansas vs. Rutgers - ESPN, 3:30
Bret Bielema has the Razorbacks played pretty well and while Rutgers is solid, I like the former.
Pick: Arkansas

West Virginia vs. Maryland (M&T Bank Stadium) - ESPNU, 3:30
The Mountaineers still cannot stop anybody defensively and they will struggle against a strong Terrapin offense.
Pick: Maryland

Kent State vs. Penn State - BTN, 3:30
Penn State did just lose to UCF, but Kent State has really struggled with Dri Archer not staying healthy.
Pick: Penn State

Maine vs. #18 Northwestern - BTN, 3:30
Pick: Northwestern

South Dakota State vs. Nebraska - BTN, 3:30
Pick: Nebraska

Murray State vs. Bowling Green - ESPN3, 3:30
Pick: Bowling Green

VMI vs. Virginia - ESPN3, 3:30
Pick: Virginia

Louisiana-Monroe vs. #20 Baylor - Fox Sports 1, 4:00
Tim Brando's Warhawks will make it interesting, I tell you.
Pick: Baylor

Cincinnati vs. Miami (OH) - ESPN3, 4:00
Pick: Cincinnati

Arkansas State vs. Memphis - ESPN3, 4:30
Pick: Arkansas State

Bethune Cookman vs. #8 Florida State - ESPN3, 6:00
Pick: Florida State

Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Akron - ESPN3, 6:00
Hey the Zips cam extremely close to beating the Wolverines. And yet, I like the Rajin' Cajuns. So be it.
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette

#23 Arizona State vs. #5 Stanford - Fox, 7:00
Yes, ASU escaped with some referee sheninigans Saturday night but this is a very good club with plenty of offensive firepower. However, I think Stanford's defense can slow them down plus their physicality will give the Sun Devils trouble.
Pick: Stanford

SMU vs. #10 Texas A&M - ESPNU, 7:00
Pick: Texas A&M

Colorado State vs. #1 Alabama - ESPN2, 7:00
Pick: Alabama

Texas State vs. #25 Texas Tech - FSN, 7:00
Pick: Texas Tech

Savannah State vs. #16 Miami (FL) - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Miami (FL)

Eastern Illinois vs. Northern Illinois - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Northern Illinois

Morgan State vs. Western Kentucky - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Western Kentucky

Troy vs. Mississippi State - Fox Sports South, 7:30
Pick: Mississippi State

Oregon State vs. San Diego State - CBS Sports Network, 7:30
Pick: Oregon State

Auburn vs. #6 LSU - ESPN, 7:45
Gus Malzahn has the Tigers playing quite well to start off his tenure, but you don't win in Baton Rouge at night, especially against an LSU club playing great.
Pick: LSU

Kansas State vs. Texas - ABC, 8:00
Texas is looking really poor on defense right now, but fortunately the Wildcats are a middling offensive club.
Pick: Texas

#15 Michigan vs. UConn - ABC, 8:00
It's a good thing the Huskies are awful, but then what is Akron?
Pick: Michigan

Missouri vs. Indiana - BTN, 8:00
This should be a quality affair in Bloomington and I think the Hoosiers will show enough flash offensively to pull a mild upset.
Pick: Indiana

UTSA vs. UTEP - FCS, 8:00
Pick: UTEP

Hawaii vs. Nevada - Oceanic Pay-Per-View/Mountain West Network, 8:00
Pick: Nevada

Wyoming vs. Air Force - ESPNU, 10:15
Pick: Air Force

Utah vs. BYU - ESPN2, 10:15
The Utes fought hard and almost took out the Beavers, we will see a similar result in my hometown.
Pick: BYU

New Mexico State vs. #13 UCLA - Pac-12 Network, 10:30
Pick: UCLA

Idaho vs. Washington State - Pac-12 Network, 10:30
Pick: Washington State

  5. Too early to give up on Mack Brown. I think Texas finishes season with only 3 victories. Mack cannot lose big agains OU or he is done. if its a win I say he survives.

  6. Your comment slamming Michigan. "It's a good thing the Huskies are awful ..." I guess you think your the demigod of football. Take a look at what far more people, who probably know far more than you, are saying. They're not saying Michigan of UConn because UConn is "awful". They're saying Michigan over UConn because Michigan is ranked #15. It's more like "Too bad UConn is awful. With Michigan coming off an embarrassment, it would be nice for them to have a challenge." Lose your bias or stop reporting.

    1. Actually people are picking Michigan because UConn sucks, I hope I'm not breaking news here, and because people don't think Michigan will flatline again against an awful Akron team. I'm not seeing what you are whining about.
