2013 College Football Predictions: Week 3

It's not that often that perhaps the most anticipated game of the year takes place in week three, but that appears to be the case as all eyes are going to be on College Station and Kyle Field as defending Heisman winner Johnny Manziel will lead the Aggies of Texas A&M against the defending national champs, the Crimson Tide of Alabama. Of course, it was the Aggies that went into Tuscaloosa and upset the Tide last year in a great game that helped drive Manziel's Heisman campaign but can the Aggies, will all the distractions surrounding Manziel and his shenanigans, do it again? Here are my predictions for the third week of the 2013 college football season.

Thursday, September 12th
#24 TCU vs. Texas Tech - ESPN, 7:30
Both will put up plenty of passing yards but the defense of the Red Raiders is a bit of a ways away.
Pick: TCU

Tulane vs. Louisiana Tech - Fox Sports 1, 7:30
Pick: Louisiana Tech

Troy vs. Arkansas State - ESPNU, 7:30
We love Sun Belt football, but ASU is a much better club in my opinion.
Pick: Arkansas State

Friday, September 13th
Air Force vs. Boise State - ESPN, 8:00
It is tough to play against the option, but Boise gets a big bounce-back victory.
Pick: Boise State

Saturday, September 14th
#16 UCLA vs. #23 Nebraska - ABC, 12:00
We will see plenty of offense thanks to a pair of stellar dual-threat quarterbacks, but the Cornhuskers still can't tackle as shown by giving up a ton of yards to Wyoming.
Pick: UCLA

Tulsa vs. #14 Oklahoma - ESPN2, 12:00
The Sooners struggled to put away West Virginia on Saturday night and while Tulsa will be game, they are undermanned.
Pick: Oklahoma

Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina - Fox Sports 1, 12:00
Pick: Virginia Tech

#7 Louisville vs. Kentucky - ESPN, 12:00
Mark Stoops really has his work cut out today for the Wildcats, and this will be ugly.
Pick: Louisville

Bowling Green vs. Indiana - ESPNU, 12:00
If you want a fun MAC/Big Ten showdown, this should be it. Yes, the Hoosiers are coming off a very disappointing loss to Navy and the Falcons have been strong in 2013, but look for Indiana to bounce-back.
Pick: Indiana

Akron vs. #11 Michigan - BTN, 12:00
Pick: Michigan

Western Illinois vs. Minnesota - BTN, 12:00
Pick: Minnesota

#5 Stanford vs. Army - CBS Sports Network, 12:00
Pick: Stanford

Southern Miss vs. Arkansas - SEC TV, 12:00
Pick: Arkansas

Georgia State vs. West Virginia - Mountaineer Network, 12:00
Pick: West Virginia

New Mexico vs. Pittsburgh - ACC Network, 12:30
Pick: Pittsburgh

Louisiana-Monroe vs. Wake Forest - ACC Network, 12:30
I'm not that high on the Demon Deacons this year so give me a nice upset.
Pick: Louisiana-Monroe

Eastern Michigan vs. Rutgers - ESPN3, 1:00
Pick: Rutgers

Fordham vs. Temple - ESPN3, 1:00
Pick: Temple

Youngstown State vs. Michigan State - BTN, 2:00
Pick: Michigan State

Boston College vs. USC - Pac-12 Network, 3:00
Pick: USC

#1 Alabama vs. #6 Texas A&M - CBS, 3:30
We all will be watching this bad boy, but honestly with all the distractions surrounding Manziel and given that he will come in with only one half of play against Rice, I think the Tide will get some revenge.
Pick: Alabama

Tennessee vs. #2 Oregon - ABC, 3:30
Oregon showed Virginia that they are just as good even without Chip Kelly and while the Vols will play hard, they lack speed.
Pick: Oregon

Georgia Tech vs. Duke - ESPNU, 3:30
I'm feeling a bit of an upset here, give me the Blue Devils who have looked pretty good this year.
Pick: Duke

Nevada vs. #10 Florida State - ESPN, 3:30
Pick: Florida State

Delaware vs. Navy - CBS Sports Network, 3:30
Pick: Navy

Cal-Poly vs. Colorado State - Mountain West Network, 3:30
Pick: Colorado State

Stony Brook vs. Buffalo - ESPN3, 3:30
Pick: Buffalo

Ball State vs. North Texas - FSN, 4:00
Pick: North Texas

Wagner vs. Syracuse - ESPN3, 4:00
Pick: Syracuse

Iowa vs. Iowa State - Fox Sports 1, 6:00
Both of these Hawkeye State clubs have seen disappointing starts to 2013 but all in all, I think that the U of I has more talent.
Pick: Iowa

#19 Washington vs. Illinois - BTN, 6:00
Both are coming off big victories but I don't think the Fighting Illini are there yet.
Pick: Washington

UCF vs. Penn State - BTN, 6:00
Pick: Penn State

Southern Utah vs. Washington State - Pac-12 Network, 6:30
Pick: Washington State

Vanderbilt vs. #13 South Carolina - ESPN, 7:00
Vanderbilt is a good club, but not quite good enough to go into Columbia and pull this off.
Pick: South Carolina

Mississippi State vs. Auburn - ESPN2, 7:00
If both of these teams want to get to a bowl, this game will be critical but I still don't think that Dan Mullen and his club has shown enough to win a big SEC road game.
Pick: Auburn

#4 Ohio State vs. California - Fox, 7:00
Check back in with the Golden Bears in a year or two.
Pick: Ohio State

Kent State vs. #8 LSU - ESPNU, 7:00
Pick: LSU

Memphis vs. Middle Tennessee - CSS, 7:00
Pick: Memphis

Nicholls State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Louisiana-Lafayette

Eastern Washington vs. Toledo - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Toledo

FAU vs. USF - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: USF

Northwestern State vs. Cincinnati - ESPN3, 7:00
Pick: Cincinnati

UMass vs. Kansas State - 7:00
Pick: Kansas State

Lamar vs. #12 Oklahoma State - FSN, 7:30
Pick: Oklahoma State

Kansas vs. Rice - CBS Sports Network, 7:30
Pick: Kansas

Maryland vs. UConn - ESPN3, 7:30
Pick: Maryland

Western Kentucky vs. South Alabama - ESPN3, 7:30
Pick: Western Kentucky

#25 Ole Miss vs. Texas - Longhorn Network, 8:00
No question how disappointing the Longhorn defense was in Provo on Saturday night, and I think the disappointment will continue this week against a fine Ole Miss squad.
Pick: Ole Miss

#21 Notre Dame vs. Purdue - ABC, 8:00
Pick: Notre Dame

Marshall vs. Ohio - ESPNEWS, 8:00
Pick: Marshall

UTEP vs. New Mexico State - Aggie Vision, 8:00
The Battle of I-10 is here and the Miners will win both the Silver Spade and the Mayor's Cup.
Pick: UTEP

Weber State vs. Utah State - ESPN3, 8:00
Pick: Utah State

Western Michigan vs. #17 Northwestern - BTN, 9:00
Pick: Northwestern

Oregon State vs. Utah - Fox Sports 1, 10:00
Pick: Oregon State

Central Michigan vs. UNLV - Mountain West Network, 10:00
Pick: Central Michigan

#20 Wisconsin vs. Arizona State - ESPN, 10:30
Of course these two have seen cupcakes, but their combined scores this year through three games is 148-0. So this should be good. I like the Sun Devils quite a bit, but I don't think they are physical enough for the Badgers.
Pick: Wisconsin

UTSA vs. Arizona - Pac-12 Network, 10:30
Pick: Arizona
