2013 American League Wild Card Tiebreaker Prediction

There are few things greater than the one game playoff with a birth in the MLB Postseason on the line. As the Tampa Bay Rays and the Texas Rangers ended the 2013 regular season with identical 91-71 marks, they will face off Monday night in Arlington for the right to go to Cleveland in the Wild Card game. Who will win and advance? Here is my prediction.

TBS, 8:07 (Brian Anderson, Joe Simpson, John Smoltz, David Aldridge)

What makes this game even more fascinating is that Nelson Cruz will be activated for the game after serving out his 50-game suspension, but considering how rusty he must be, it is hard to see him making that much of a difference. Tampa Bay will throw out David Price, who has been good but not as great as he has been, while Texas will have the young and talented Martin Perez, who has looked solid in 2013. That said, he has never pitched in a game like this one before while Price has big game experience so I think that will give the Rays a slight edge.
Pick: Tampa Bay
