2013 Kentucky Derby Picks

The 139th running of the most famous horse race in America, the Kentucky Derby, is this Saturday at the legendary Churchill Downs in Louisville. It is the first leg of the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing and is known as the "Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports." Who's going to win the Run for the Roses? Here are my predictions.

Post Positions
Latest Odds

Win: Revolutionary (5-1)
Revolutionary has been a popular pick for many for Saturday's race and there is clear reason to see why. After all, this is a trainer/jockey/owner combination that has won before and jockey Calvin Borel is one of the best in the business. The post position of post three is not ideal, although the horse on the rail scratched so that may be a plus then, but this is a horse that has won before and maneuvers itself well in traffic

Place: Itsmyluckyday (9-1)
Will the chances of rain on Saturday in upwards of 70 percent, this is a horse that is going to get a lot of play in the countdown to the race because it has won in the rain before. Itsmyluckyday also has an ideal post position in post 12 so look for it to hold off early on and charge hard down the stretch to get in the mix for the win.

Show: Overanalyze (14-1)
I think Overanalyze is going to be a sleeper on Saturday. It is a horse that has shown that it is versatile by winning in a variety of ways. Look for it to make a big move late, as it has proven that is can do, as the frontrunners fall off. I don't think he will win, but he will make it fun.
