Super Bowl XLVII Predictions

And here we are, the Super Bowl. Two teams are still fighting for the best trophy in all of sports, the Vince Lombardi Trophy. The Baltimore Ravens are going for their second Super Bowl championship and their first since demolishing the New York Giants in 2001. The San Francisco 49ers are looking to tie the Pittsburgh Steelers with the most Super Bowl victories with six and they are looking for their first championship since crushing the San Diego Chargers in 1995.

So who will be the ones hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, the Ravens or the 49ers? It's time for my Super Bowl XLVII predictions.

Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers (CBS, 6:30)
I must say, I really found this game hard to pick because I think this is a relatively even matchuo between these two very good teams. I gave real consideration to the Ravens with everything they have been through just to get to New Orleans, particularly that wild game in Denver in the Divisional Round. With their offense coming alive after the bold decision to replace Cam Cameron with Jim Caldwell late in the season, despite Caldwell never calling plays before, with Joe Flacco looking great throwing the deep ball and with the ever-dependable Ray Rice running the ball out of the backfield, plus with the team having extra motivation with it being Ray Lewis's last game (and possibly Ed Reed's as well), there is a strong case for Baltimore.

That said, I have to go with the 49ers and here is why. The Ravens still have a pretty good defense but as they have aged, they have gotten slower. That could come back to haunt them considering they are going against a quarterback like Colin Kaepernick, and they have not played a mobile quarterback like him since when they played the Redskins and Robert Griffin, who had a lot of success against them. Considering that as well as having to factor in for a varied San Francisco offense, as I think Vernon Davis is going to have a huge game, I think the 49ers have the edge.

49ers 28 Ravens 24
MVP: Vernon Davis, TE
