So here is a clip of Irish announcer Timmy McCarthy, who is calling Olympic basketball for Irish TV network RTE. Why, you may ask? Because this guy not only has an awesome accent, his excitement is so cartoonish and hilarious. Just wait until he all but splooges on a LeBron James slam at around 1:20 and a Russell Westbrook dunk at around 1:30. This is fantastic, let's go to the videotape.
Whenever a big name joins the New York Yankees, everybody awaits what John Sterling, the club's radio play-by-play, will come up with as a home run call. After the Yankees acquired Ichiro Suzuki from the Seattle Mariners, there was a lot of speculation on what kind of crap Sterling would come up with. Well, Ichiro hit his first homer with the club last night against the Baltimore Orioles and Sterling's home run call was...really awful. Let's go to the videotape.
Abby Wambach, one of the stars of the women's soccer club for Team USA, certainly had an interesting game yesterday against Columbia. On one hand, she broke the record for most goals at the Olympics by an American women's soccer player and helped carry the good guys (or girls, in this case) to a guaranteed spot in the quarterfinals of the soccer tourney in London. On the other hand, she took a nice cheap shot to the face in the 39th minute from Lady Andrade. Amazingly, the referees missed the punch and thus no foul was called. Let's go to the videotape.
