Watch Tony Parker win the Skills Challenge

It was a talented field as always but it was Spurs point guard Tony Parker that came out on top tonight in Orlando. Let's go to the videotape of Parker's winning performance.

2012 Daytona 500 Preview

It's the 54th annual running of the Great American Race, the Daytona 500 at the world center of racing down in Daytona. We got a surprise winner in Trevor Bayne last year, will we see someone else surprising win this year? Here's my 2012 Daytona 500 preview.

Players we want to see in the Slam Dunk Contest

Everybody looks forward to the Slam Dunk Contest in NBA All-Star Weekend but while the field for 2012 could be good, there aren't any big names in the mix. In fact, with the exception of Blake Griffin a year ago, most of the big names have largely stayed away from the contest of late. But 'etls change that right here, here's who we would like to see in the future.

2012 Rising Stars Challenge Highlights

The Rising Stars Challenge was tonight at the Amway Center in Orlando as part of All-Star Weekend. Just like I thought, Team Chuck defeated Team Shaq by a 146-133 score. Here are some highlights from the game.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan with the brilliant over the shoulder pass in the Celebrity All-Star Game

Yes, the United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was playing in that bizarre event known as the Celebrity All-Star Game. And yes, he had by far the play of the game with the ridiculous over the shoulder pass  to J. Cole who would miss the easy layup because he's, well, J. Cole. Let's go to the videotape.

Watch Lamar coach Pat Knight absolutely lose his mind

Pat Knight, known for being Bob Knight's kid, showed some shades of his old man when he absolutely lost it during the post-game press conference after his Lamar club, sitting in second in the Southland Conference, lost 62-52 to Stephen F. Austin. Knight went off at a player who was talking to the press before him, said that this senior class did not know how to win, lamented the problems with kids in his locker room and trashed their stats from the game. Probably not the most professional a coach has been in his post-game presser but entertaining nonetheless. Let's go to the videotape.

Should the Packers apply the franchise tag to Matt Flynn?

As we all know, one of the biggest catches on the free agent market this offseason is Packers reserve quarterback Matt Flynn. This is what happens when you star in two spot starts with so many teams needing quarterbacks. But the question here is should the Packers apply the franchise tag to him?

Want to see the Minnesota Timberwolves perform "Tearing Up My Heart"?

Because who does not love to lip-sync N'Sync? Don't lie because you know you would so let's watch some Pack Karaoke from the Timberwolves do just that. To the videotape.

Eastbound & Down is sponsoring a car in the Nationwide Series race at Daytona

So the great HBO comedy Eastbound & Down is in the early days of its third and final season (watch the trailer here) and thus like many shows, they always are thinking of creative ways to promote itself. So in the season opening race, the Drive4COPD 300 at Daytona this Saturday, it will be sponsoring the #50 Chevy of T.J. Bell. Let's take a look at some renderings of the car.

Dolphins fans really want Peyton Manning

H/T Shutdown Corner
There's no question that the Miami Dolphins need a franchise quarterback. They have been linked to bringing in Matt Flynn due to the connection with new head coach Joe Philbin but they have also been linked to acquiring Peyton Manning, which I think is what these fans want. And their website is a pretty good one too, not like most petition websites like this.

Trent Richardson is making the correct decision to skip the drills at the NFL Combine

Arguably the most high profile prospect not participating in on-field drills at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis is Alabama running back Trent Richardson. Richardson is not participating in the workouts this week because he had his knee scoped three weeks ago. And while it has been reported that Richardson is close to 100 percent, he is taking a precaution and choosing not to partake in the drills. Richardson is making the right move and here is why.

Video of Mikhail Prokhorov rapping...wait WHAT?

Yes, I kid you not, there is video of Nets owner and Russian presidential candidate Mikhail Prokhorov rapping on some Russian television program. It will mesmerize you. Let's go to the videotape.

Why is Reggie Miller calling NCAA Tournament games again?

For the second straight year in a row, Reggie Miller will be analyzing NCAA Tournament games as he will be working games through the regional finals of a regional along with Kevin Harlan and Len Elmore. And quite frankly, it sucks and here is why.

Dana White should not be calling out Floyd Mayweather for his comments on Jeremy Lin

As you know already, Floyd Mayweather has gotten a lot of well-deserved flak for this tweet regarding Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin:

Now we all know that is a ridiculous statement, now while the fact that Lin is Chinese certainly does not hurt, to say that's the only reason why people love him is just inane (by his reasoning, America would have loved Wang Zhizhi).

And then for some reason, UFC President Dana White decided to go off on Mayweather. Let's take a look at what he said.

2012 NCAA Tournament Announcers

March Madness is just about here folks and we know you have been waiting. Just like last year, every game will of the 2012 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament will be shown nationally on either CBS, TBS, TNT or truTV. The CBS/Turner consortium worked wonders last year and should again this year. And here are the announcers for the 2012 NCAA Tournament.

Players to watch at the 2012 NFL Combine

The 2012 NFL Scouting Combine kicks off today in the Circle City today. I've given you things to watch but here are some individual players to keep an eye on over the next week.

2012 NCAA Tournament: Predicting Announcing Assignments for Rounds 2-3 (1st Edition)

Last year before the NCAA Tournament, I wrote a series of posts predicting where the eight broadcast teams from the CBS/Turner consortium would be calling games in the second and third round of March Madness. I am bringing that back for the 2012 NCAA Tournament so let's dig in.

Should Greg Oden retire?

So fifteen months after the Portland Trail Blazers announced that Greg Oden would have microfracture surgery on his left knee, a surgery that is career-threatening the team announced that he will have the same surgery again on the same knee. This, including a microfracture surgery on his right knee back in 2007, means that Oden will have had three microfacture surgeries on his knees. Should he retire?

LeBron James follows a huge block with a 60-foot alley-oop to Dwayne Wade

No wonder James and Wade wanted to play with each other. Let's go to the videotape, this is so good.

What should we expect from Stephen Strasburg in 2012?

No player is coming back from injury under more scrutiny this season than Stephen Strasburg, the young stud pitcher for the Washington Nationals who jumped into the league by storm in 2010 but then suffering a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and then having to undergo Tommy John surgery. So what should Nationals fans expect from him this season in his return?

Brady Quinn sounds pretty jealous of Tim Tebow

Michael Silver wrote a piece for GQ about the year it was for Tim Tebow. It's a pretty fascinating oral history about how a guy that completed a horrible 46.5 percent of his passes and has pretty mediocre throwing mechanics can take a team floundering at 1-4 under Kyle Orton take them to a division championship and a victory in the playoffs over the defending AFC champions. Unique stuff.

Now unless you live under a rock, you know that Tebow has his fair share of haters. What you probably do not know is that fellow Broncos quarterback Brady Quinn appears to be one of them, as per the Silver article.

Dave Chappelle visited the locker room of the Golden State Warriors (Video)

Not sure why but one of my favorite comedians, Dave Chappelle, visited the locker room of the Golden State Warriors last night after their big victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. And of course, someone, Nate Robinson, does their Chappelle impersonation. It's good stuff, let's go to the videotape.

Watch UConn defeat Villanova in overtime on Shabazz Napier's absurd three from 30 feet

UConn found itself down by 18 to lowly Villanova early on in Philadelphia and rallied itself to get the game into overtime. And boy was the finish in overtime exciting or what. Jeremy Lamb had the opportunity to put the Huskies up three with a free throw but he missed and the Wildcats hurried down the floor to tie the game with a lay-up. Connecticut had a timeout but did not use it as Shabazz Napier chose to do it himself for the win and he threw in a bomb from deep. Let's go to the videotape.

Should the Lakers trade Pau Gasol?

There have been rumors swirling about if the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to trade Pau Gasol and quite frankly both Gasol and Kobe Bryant are getting tired of it. But should they be considering it? Let's ponder.

What to expect from Danica Patrick at the Daytona 500

This Sunday, thanks to a complicated owner points deal with Tommy Baldwin Racing that guaranteed her a spot, Danica Patrick will join Janet Guthrie and Shawna Robinson as the only females to start the Great American Race, the Daytona 500. We do not know yet where she will start yet, that will be determined by the Gatorade Duels on Thursday afternoon all as part of the unique qualifying rules for the 500, but what should we expect from her this Sunday?

Manny Ramirez will be making his comeback in Oakland

Manny Ramirez, remember that guy? It sure has been a while since we have heard that name, or at least a year, but he is back, as it was announced today that he signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletics. What all does this mean? Let's break it down.

Steve Novak's Discount Double Check? Greatest Thing Ever

So Steve Novak did the discount-double check yesterday against the Dallas Mavericks. Yes that Steve Novak. And yes, that's the dance from those great State Farm commercials.  Put two and two together and you get pure and absolute greatness. But Novak sure ain't no dancer, like Rodgers might be. Let's go to the videotape.

The Best Jeremy Lin Sign Ever

H/T Larry Brown Sports
I think they like this Jeremy Lin guy. And I mean, really like this Jeremy Lin guy. This sign says it all.

John Wall is not happy about where he was picked for the Rising Stars Challenge

We've talked here about the changes to what is now known as the Rising Stars Challenge and then how the rosters were selected by TNT/NBA TV analysts Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal. Now one person was not happy where he was selected and that was Wizards point guard John Wall. Let's take a look at what he said.

"Chink in the armor" does not offend Buzz Bissinger

The perpetually disgruntled Buzz Bissinger went on Reliable Sources on CNN this morning talking about Jeremy Lin, namely the "Chink in the Armor" headline that was seen on ESPN's mobile page that resulted in some guy getting fired. And he personally was not offended all that much because as he says, there are things much more offense that could have been said. He does elaborate saying that "gook" and "kike" were more offense. Interesting take on things, to say the least. Let's go to the videotape.

2012 NFL Combine: What to Watch For

Fun fact: the NFL Scouting Combine is actually named the National Invitational Camp. Well after the meaningless tidbit, as the combine is this week, here are some things to be on the watch for.
