Pro Football Hall of Fame 2012 Finalists

The finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2012 have been announced. Let's take a look at the seventeen finalists, fifteen from the modern era, two selected by the Hall of Fame's senior committee, who have their dreams of becoming a Hall of Famer alive.

Chiefs to Retain Romeo Crennel, Remove Interim Tag

The Kansas City Chiefs have decided to pull the interim tag off of Romeo Crennel, making him the new head coach of the club. Crennel, who took over after Todd Haley was dismissed in mid-December, led the Chiefs to a 2-1 finish, including a shocking upset of the Packers, who were undefeated at the time and was their only loss, in his first game. The Chiefs played much better under Crennel and his easy-going coaching style was a nice change-of-pace for the club following the frantic Haley. This is the correct move in my opinion and he shouldn't have problems with Scott Pioli, the Chiefs' personnel czar, thanks to their connections from back in New England. But one cannot forget Crennel's 24-40 record when coaching in Cleveland.
UPDATE: Crennel signed a three-year deal.

2012 College Football Coaching Carousel: Grading the Hires

It's that time of year again that the coaching carousel in the world of college football spins around as teams try to find the new man to lead them to greatness. 23 programs have hired themselves a new coach. Who hit a home run or who found a dud? Let's take a look.

The Next Penn State Football Coach is Bill O'Brien

About a week ago I wrote a post on if anybody will be the next head coach at Penn State. Of the candidates I mentioned, I failed to mention the man who will be the next coach of the Nittany Lions, Bill O'Brien, offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. Besides being the playcaller of the Pats' high powered attack since 2009, he is also well known as being in the shouting match with Tom Brady earlier this season. O'Brien has been with the Patriots since 2007 and prior to that coached in the college ranks at Duke, Maryland, Georgia Tech and Brown.
I will have more analysis on my college football coaching carousel 2012 post.

Everton Goalie Tim Howard Scores from 100 Yards Away (Video)

We here at B-FLO 360 love goalies scoring goals. And we've got another one, one much more impressive than the prior one seen on this blog. In this clip, Everton (and US National team) goalkeeper Tim Howard, with the help of some strong wind, scores a goal from 100 yards out. I kid you not, let's go to the videotape.

Does the Westphal Firing Enable Cousins in Sacramento?

It hasn't been all peaches and green out in Sacramento and this isn't caused by the rumors that the club will move. What is causing the latest tension of late was the relationship between Kings coach Paul Westphal and their second-year center DeMarcus Cousins. The fact that Cousins reportedly requested a trade did not help matters. And so what does Kings brass do to try to solve the situation? They fire Westphal, which they did earlier today. Now while that's not really a fair statement considering the Kings have struggled over the last two seasons with no noticeable signs of improvement, the timing of the firing coupled with the timing of the most recent cause for stress between the coach and headcase center can lead most folks to connect the dots. So are the Kings enabling Cousins' behavior?

Who's to Blame for the Jets' Locker Room Mess?

There is no question that the locker room of the New York Jets had turned into a disaster by the end of the season as the team fell out of the playoff hunt by losing their last three games. Most notable of the problems was the behavior of wideout and team captain Santonio Holmes who clearly at times was given less than his best effort as well as his pathetic sulking bit done in the season finale at Miami. So who is at fault?

2012 NFL Mock Draft: 2nd Edition

Andrew Luck looks a little dejected here after losing an instant classic in the Fiesta Bowl to Oklahoma State but he can hold his head high now that he knows that will be headed to the Circle City come draft time. The Indianapolis Colts will hold the top pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and barring something unforseen, Andrew Luck will be taking pictures with Roger Goodell on the stage at Radio City Music Hall with a Colts hat and jersey. But how do I foresee the rest of the draft shaping out? Here's my second look at a mock draft but with only the clubs that did not make the playoffs for now.

2012 MLB on FOX Schedule

You know that the season isn't too far ahead when we have the MLB on FOX schedule for the 2012 season. America's favorite duo is back as the lead crew with a variety of guys calling games as well throughout the season. And if you liked primetime baseball during the summer, FOX has got more for you this season. So let's take a look at the schedule for FOX Saturday Baseball in 2012. And note that like in 2011 that I will post the announcers for every game throughout the season.

Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell Mentions During CNN's Iowa Caucus Coverage

For some reason, Rick Perry has been in metaphors with NFL quarterbacks of late even as his campaign has floundered. He made the first comparison with Tim Tebow, which Michele Bachmann made a similar comparison and ironically both campaigns are all but dead, but he may not like the most recent comparison, that of legendary NFL bust Ryan Leaf. And that is courtesy of CNN contributor Roland Martin, who also compared Rudy Giuliani's failed campaign of 2008 to JaMarcus Russell. And yet this actually happened on a news network. That's why I love James Carville. To the videotape.

Craig James' First Senate Ad Is Hilarious

Former ESPN charlatan Craig James' Senate run has been met with much derision and mockery. And he has released an advertisement for his campaign and he wants you to know that he is a conservative. He really does. And boy is the ad hilarious. Let's go to the videotape.

Norv Turner, A.J. Smith to Return to San Diego...WHAT?

Breaking news out of San Diego as Chargers general manager A.J. Smith and head coach Norv Turner are both returning to the club, according to team president Dean Spanos. The embattled, and rightfully so, two were thought to be sure goners, particularly Turner, as the team has fallen short of expectations for three straight years (second best record in football in 2009 but loss in first playoff game, missed playoffs last two seasons) as the fanbase has gotten increasingly agitated at the underachieving. But it appears that the underachieving is now to be the norm in America's Finest City.

Did Jerry Angelo Deserve To Be Fired?

The Chicago Bears have made the next major move as heads continue to roll across the NFL as the season is over by firing longtime general manager Jerry Angelo. The Bears were 8-8 this season, one season after winning the NFC North and falling in the NFC Championship Game to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, but were sitting at 7-3 after week 11. After Jay Cutler got injured against the San Diego Chargers, they finished 1-5. Hence, Angelo losing his job. But did he deserve to?
