Hate to break it to you, mac, but Alabama was upset by Texas A&M in Tuscaloosa in a game that has thrown a monkey wrench in the 2012 college football season. Now the pressure is on the three remaining undefeated clubs in Oregon (versus Stanford), Kansas State (at Baylor), and Notre Dame (versus Wake Forest) as the door has now opened for one of them into the championship game. Alabama may be down at the moment but certainly not out, and how will they respond this week against Western Carolina? Or how about A&M against Sam Houston? It's my week 12 selections.
AP rankings
Wednesday, November 14
Ohio vs. Ball State (ESPNU, 8:00)
Nothing like some Maction. I think the Bobcats get back on track and win in Muncie.
Pick: Ohio
Toledo vs. Northern Illinois (ESPN2, 9:00)
This should be the game of the year in the MAC. I love both of these teams but I think with Toledo showing some chinks in the armor last week against Ball State that the edge goes to NIU.
Pick: Northern Illinois
Thursday, November 15
North Carolina vs. Virginia (ESPN, 7:30)
Pick: North Carolina
Friday, November 16
FIU vs. FAU (ESPNU, 8:00)
Here's a piece of trivia for you, do you why this game is called the Shula Bowl?
Pick: FAU
Hawaii vs. Air Force (ESPN2, 9:30)
Pick: Air Force
Saturday, November 17
Iowa vs. (23) Michigan (ESPN, 12:00)
Doesn't really seem to matter who is under center for the Maize and Blue.
Pick: Michigan
Northwestern vs. Michigan State (ESPN2, 12:00)
Sparty's lack of offensive pop will hurt them once again and they will have to wait one more week to get bowl eligible.
Pick: Northwestern
(10) Florida State vs. Maryland (ESPNU, 12:00)
So Maryland is playing a linebacker at quarterback and his name is Petty. You could throw Richard Petty under center and they still won't win this week.
Pick: Florida State
Arkansas vs. Mississippi State (SEC Network, 12:00)
Pick: Mississippi State
Western Carolina vs. (4) Alabama (SEC Network, 12:00)
Pick: Alabama
Indiana vs. Penn State (BTN, 12:00)
You know, I'd love for Indiana to get to a bowl, but it ain't gonna happen.
Pick: Penn State
(22) Rutgers vs. Cincinnati (Big East Network, 12:00)
Rutgers will ride a good running game and a solid defense to keep their BCS hopes alive.
Pick: Rutgers
UCF vs. Tulsa (FSN, 12:00)
A preview of the C-USA Championship Game, if you will.
Pick: Tulsa
Temple vs. Army (CBS Sports Network, 12:00)
Pick: Temple
(25) Kent State vs. Bowling Green (ESPN+, 12:00)
Hey, major props to Darren Hazell and the Golden Flashes, who are ranked for the first time since the Don James era in 1973.
Pick: Kent State
Houston vs. Marshall (CSS, 12:00)
Pick: Houston
Virginia Tech vs. Boston College (ACC Network, 12:30)
Pick: Virginia Tech
Jacksonville State vs. (7) Florida (Pay-per-view, 1:00)
Pick: Florida
Wofford vs. South Carolina (Pay-per-view, 1:00)
Pick: South Carolina
Washington vs. Colorado (FX, 1:30)
Pick: Washington
Georgia Southern vs. Georgia (WSB, 1:30)
Pick: Georgia
Alabama A&M vs. Auburn (Pay-per-view, 2:00)
Pick: Auburn
(21) USC vs. (17) UCLA (FOX, 3:00)
The Rose Bowl will be popping this Saturday with these two intracity rivals. I like USC because I have concerns about UCLA and their secondary.
Pick: USC
South Florida vs. Miami (FL) (FSN regional, 3:00)
Pick: Miami (FL)
Washington State vs. Arizona State (Pac-12 Network, 3:00)
Pick: Arizona State
Ole Miss vs. (8) LSU (CBS, 3:30)
Ole Miss has been solid this year and an upset is not that crazy, but they will be overmatched in Baton Rouge.
Pick: LSU
(6) Ohio State vs. Wisconsin (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
I'm feeling the upset. Montee Ball is rolling right now and the Badgers will ride him to a big win over the Buckeyes.
Pick: Wisconsin
NC State vs. (11) Clemson (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
The Wolfpack do not have the athletes on defense to slow down this big-time Clemson attack.
Pick: Clemson
Wake Forest vs. (3) Notre Dame (NBC, 3:30)
Pick: Notre Dame
(23) Texas Tech vs. Oklahoma State (FSN, 3:30)
The Red Raiders will give fits to whoever is under center for Oklahoma State.
Pick: Texas Tech
Minnesota vs. (16) Nebraska (BTN, 3:30)
I like what Minnesota and coach Jerry Kill this year, but they are a year away from having the talent to go into Lincoln and pull off an upset like this.
Pick: Nebraska
Purdue vs. Illinois (BTN, 3:30)
Pick: Purdue
Duke vs. Georgia Tech (ESPNU, 3:30)
The Yellow Jackets have gotten their option cranked up with two straight big wins, and I think they'll get a much needed win this week to get to bowl elgibility.
Pick: Georgia Tech
Texas State vs. Navy (CBS Sports Network, 3:30)
Pick: Navy
Colorado State vs. Boise State (NBC Sports Network, 3:30)
Pick: Boise State
SMU vs. Rice (CSS, 3:30)
Pick: SMU
East Carolina vs. Tulane (CST, 3:30)
Pick: East Carolina
Sam Houston State vs. (9) Texas A&M (Pay-per-view, 3:30)
Pick: Texas A&M
Nevada vs. New Mexico (Comcast-New Mexico, 3:30)
Pick: Nevada
Arkansas State vs. Troy (Troy Network, 3:30)
Pick: Arkansas State
Utah State vs. (19) Louisiana Tech (ESPN3, 4:00)
The biggest game this season in the WAC but Utah State doesn't have what it takes to slow down an awesome Bulldogs offense.
Pick: Louisiana Tech
Wyoming vs. UNLV (TWC Sportsnet, 4:00)
Pick: UNLV
UTSA vs. Idaho (KCWX, 5:00)
Pick: UTSA
(13) Oklahoma vs. West Virginia (FOX, 7:00)
The collapse will continue one more week for the Mountaineers as I have no confidence that they can upset the Sooners, even at home.
Pick: Oklahoma
Syracuse vs. Missouri (ESPNU, 7:00)
I think the Orange will be on a high after last week's upset blowout of Louisville and will be brought back to earth by the Tigers.
Pick: Missouri
Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt (ESPN2, 7:00)
With Derek Dooley out, I can't see the Vols putting anything into this one.
Pick: Vanderbilt
Iowa State vs. Kansas (FSN, 7:00)
You know, Kansas has been pretty plucky this season. They will fall short once again, though.
Pick: Iowa State
Western Kentucky vs. Louisiana-Lafayette (ESPN3, 7:00)
Big game for positioning in the Belt this week in the Swamp as both are still very much alive for the league crown. I have no idea how the Hilltoppers lost last week against FAU but I think they will end their losing streak this week.
Pick:
Samford vs. Kentucky (CSS, 7:30)
Pick: Kentucky
(14) Stanford vs. (1) Oregon (ABC, 8:00)
Stanford's defense will be game but their problems throwing the football will hinder their upset bid in Autzen.
Pick: Oregon
(2) Kansas State vs. Baylor (ESPN, 8:00)
You know, Baylor's defense is so bad, they would allow American to score 35 on them. And we don't even have a football team.
Pick: Kansas State
UTEP vs. Southern Miss (CBS Sports Network, 8:00)
I think that the Golden Eagles get their first victory this week.
Pick: Southern Miss
Arizona vs. Utah (ESPNU, 10:10)
Pick: Arizona
BYU vs. San Jose State (ESPN2, 10:30)
Pick: San Jose State
Cal vs. (15) Oregon State (Pac-12 Network, 10:30)
You know, it's a good thing for Mike Riley that Cal sucks.
Pick: Oregon State
