2012 College Football Week 10 Picks

The toughest test for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide all season will be this Saturday night as they will head on down to Death Valley to take on the Bayou Bengals. Will Alabama soldier on towards the national championship game or will LSU defeat them for the second year in a row and throw the BCS into chaos? Here are my week ten selections.
AP rankings

Thursday, November 1
Eastern Michigan vs. Ohio (ESPNU, 6:00)
Pick: Ohio

Virginia Tech vs. Miami (FL) (ESPN, 7:30)
I'm smelling an upset here in Miami Gardens. The Hokies come in with something to prove and take out the Canes.
Pick: Virginia Tech

Middle Tennessee vs. Western Kentucky (ESPNU, 9:15)
Pick: Western Kentucky

Friday, November 2
Washington vs. California (ESPN, 9:00)
Is there a Jeff Tedford watch going on in Berkeley?
Pick: Washington

Saturday, November 3
(14) Oklahoma vs. Iowa State (ABC, 12:00)
The Sooners will stave off an upset and get a bounce-back win after the loss to Notre Dame.
Pick: Oklahoma

Temple vs. (12) Louisville (ABC, 12:00)
Will be closer than you would expect but Louisville will survive once again.
Pick: Louisville

(16) Texas A&M vs. (17) Mississippi State (ESPN, 12:00)
We should see a lot of passing yards with a pair of great quarterbacks in Johnny Manziel and Tyler Russell but I think an underrated Bulldogs defense gets the job done just enough.
Pick: Mississippi State

Missouri vs. (8) Florida (ESPN2, 12:00)
Florida rebounds with a big win against an outmatched Tigers club.
Pick: Florida

Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky (ESPNU, 12:00)
Pick: Vanderbilt

Michigan vs. Minnesota (BTN, 12:00)
Looking like the Golden Gophers may be going bowl bound but the talent level is not quite there yet.
Pick: Michigan

Houston vs. East Carolina (FSN, 12:00)
Pick: Houston

Air Force vs. Army (CBS Sports Network, 12:00)
Pick: Air Force

Tulsa vs. Arkansas (SEC Network, 12:00)
I like Tyler Wilson and friends in what should be a fun shootout.
Pick: Arkansas

Troy vs. Tennessee (FSN regional, 12:00)
Pick: Tennessee

Syracuse vs. Cincinnati (Big East Network, 12:00)
Pick: Cincinnati

Georgia Tech vs. Maryland (ACC Network, 12:30)
Maryland's underrated defense gets the job done.
Pick: Maryland

Virginia vs. NC State (ACC Network, 12:30)
Pick: NC State

New Mexico State vs. Auburn (CSS, 12:30)
Auburn is bad. Really bad. But not that bad.
Pick: New Mexico

Western Michigan vs. Eastern Michigan (ESPN3, 1:00)
Pick: Western Michigan

(15) Stanford vs. Colorado (FX, 2:00)
Pick: Stanford

Akron vs. Kent State (STO, 2:00)
Pick: Kent State

TCU vs. (23) West Virginia (FOX, 3:00)
The Mountaineers will bounce back in a big way this week. By the way, it seems that West Virginia has only been on games on FOX and FX all year.
Pick: West Virginia

Washington State vs. Utah (Pac-12 Network, 3:00)
Fear the Leach!
Pick: Washington State

Texas State vs. Utah State (KMYU, 3:00)
Pick: Utah State

Ole Miss vs. (7) Georgia (CBS, 3:30)
Hugh Freeze is going to do big things in Oxford but Georgia is just a stronger and deeper club.
Pick: Georgia

Pittsburgh vs. (4) Notre Dame (NBC, 3:30)
Pick: Notre Dame

Texas vs. (20) Texas Tech (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
Texas had to rally late to beat Kansas. The fact that they can't tackle means that Seth Doege will be licking his chops.
Pick: Texas Tech

(21) Nebraska vs. Michigan State (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
I liked a lot of what Andrew Maxwell did throwing the ball last week and I think that he will pull off a home upset this week.
Pick: Michigan State

Illinois vs. (6) Ohio State (ESPN, 3:30)
Pick: Ohio State

Penn State vs. Purdue (ESPN2, 3:30)
The Lions will win but it will be close.
Pick: Penn State

Kansas vs. Baylor (FSN, 3:30)
Pick: Baylor

Iowa vs. Indiana (BTN, 3:30)
Pick: Iowa

Boston College vs. Wake Forest (FSN regional, 3:30)
Pick: Wake Forest

FAU vs. Navy (CBS Sports Network, 3:30)
Pick: Navy

Colorado State vs. Wyoming (KTVD, 3:30)
Pick: Wyoming

Louisiana-Lafayette vs. Louisiana-Monroe (Sun Belt Network, 4:00)
Both of these teams are fun to watch but the Warhawks have been more consistent on both sides of the ball this year.
Pick: Louisiana-Monroe

UTSA vs. Louisiana Tech (ESPN+, 4:00)
Pick: Louisiana Tech

New Mexico vs. UNLV (TWC Sportsnet, 4:00)
Pick: New Mexico

San Jose State vs. Idaho (KTRV, 5:00)
Pick: San Jose State

(2) Oregon vs. (18) USC (FOX, 7:00)
The Ducks have been unbelievable on offense as expected this season, but their perfect season will come to an end this week. The Trojans are coming off a disappointing loss to Arizona and have something to prove. I like the upset.
Pick: USC

(10) Clemson vs. Duke (ESPN2, 7:00)
Duke's offense will be game, but their defense will get smoked.
Pick: Clemson

UConn vs. South Florida (ESPNU, 7:00)
Pick: South Florida

SMU vs. Central Florida (CBS Sports Network, 7:00)
Pick: Central Florida

Hawaii vs. Fresno State (TWC Sportsnet, 7:00)
Pick: Fresno State

UAB vs. Southern Miss (CSS, 7:30)
Pick: UAB

(1) Alabama vs. (5) LSU (CBS, 8:00)
If the Tigers had a semblance of a passing game, I would pick them in the upset since Death Valley is that tough of a place to play. But I just have no confidence in Zach Mettenberger.
Pick: Alabama

Oklahoma State vs. (3) Kansas State (ABC, 8:00)
I think the wide open Cowboy offense will make it interesting but Kansas State's defense will slow them down and Collin Klein will torch their defense.
Pick: Kansas State

Arizona State vs. (13) Oregon State (ESPN2, 10:30)
The Beavers will respond to last week's loss in a big way.
Pick: Oregon State

(24) Arizona vs. (25) UCLA (Pac-12 Network, 10:30)
I think Rich Rodriguez is starting to find his groove in Tucson and I think they'll pull off a nice road victory.
Pick: Arizona
