2012 College Football Picks: Week 3

We got ourselves some quality games this week in college football with the marquee games being Florida-Tennessee, USC-Stanford and Notre Dame-Michigan State. Who will be victorious this week?

AP Rankings

Thursday, September 13th
Rutgers vs. USF (ESPN, 7:30)
Early statement game in the Big East for both but B.J. Daniels for USF has looked much better than Rutgers' Gary Nova has at quarterback.
Pick: USF

Friday, September 14th
Washington State vs. UNLV (ESPN, 9:00)
Pick: Washington State

Saturday, September 15th
Cal vs. (12) Ohio State (ABC, 12:00)
Pick: Ohio State

Wake Forest vs. (5) Florida State (ESPN, 12:00)
These are the types of games that the Seminoles lose. That said, I cannot see the Demon Deacons pulling it off.
Pick: Florida State

Arkansas State vs. Nebraska (ESPN2, 12:00)
Pick: Nebraska

(13) Virginia Tech vs. Pittsburgh (ESPNU, 12:00)
Pitt has been really, really bad this year. No reason to expect that to change.
Pick: Virginia Tech

(16) TCU vs. Kansas (FX, 12:00)
Pick: TCU

Louisiana-Lafeyette  vs. Oklahoma State (FSN, 12:00)
Pick: Oklahoma State

Northern Illinois vs. Army (CBS Sports Network, 12:00)
Pick: Northern Illinois

Eastern Michigan vs. Purdue (BTN, 12:00)
Pick: Purdue

Western Michigan vs. Minnesota (BTN, 12:00)
Pick: Minnesota

Charleston Southern vs. Illinois (BTN, 12:00)
Pick: Illinois

Louisiana-Monroe vs. Auburn (SEC Network, 12:00)
Could the Warhawks pull off another upset against another SEC opponent after upsetting Arkansas? Even with a struggling Auburn club, don't count on it.
Pick: Auburn

Bethune-Cookman vs. Miami (FL) (ESPN3, 12:00)
Pick: Miami (FL)

UConn vs. Maryland (ACC Network, 12:00)
Pick: Maryland

Presbysterian vs. Vanberbilt (CSS, 3:00)
Pick: Vanberbilt

Furman vs. (11) Clemson (ACC Network, 3:00)
I know somebody who goes to Furman, fun fact.
Pick: Clemson

Tennessee Tech vs. (4) Oregon (Pac-12 Network, 3:00)
Pick: Oregon

(1) Alabama vs. Arkansas (CBS, 3:30)
This was looking like a really marquee football game, and then Kolton Browning happened. If Arkansas could not beat Louisiana-Monroe, how will they do against Alabama? Plus Tyler Wilson is out.
Pick: Alabama

Navy vs. Penn State (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
The Nittany Lions are coming off a disappointing (although not completely unexpected) loss to Ohio and a blown game against Virginia. They will rebound against a bad Navy club.
Pick: Penn State

North Carolina vs. (19) Louisville (ABC/ESPN2, 3:30)
The Tar Heels are coming off a tough loss to Wake and Teddy Bridgewater should be able to have a fine outing.
Pick: Louisville

Texas A&M vs. SMU (FSN, 3:30)
Expect a whole lot of offense in this one.
Pick: Texas A&M

Virginia vs. Georgia Tech (ESPNU, 3:30)
Virginia got very lucky last week when Penn State left their kicker in State College. They will not be so lucky this week against the Jackets.
Pick: Georgia Tech

East Carolina vs. Southern Miss (CBS Sports Network, 3:30)
Pick: Southern Miss

Northern Iowa vs. Iowa (BTN, 3:30)
The Panthers came close to upsetting Wisconsin in their opener and will come close to knocking off Iowa as well.
Pick: Iowa

UMass vs. (17) Michigan (BTN, 3:30)
Will Denard Robinson outgain his team again?
Pick: Michigan

Boston College vs. Northwestern (BTN, 3:30)
Pick: Northwestern

Morgan State vs. Akron (ESPN3, 3:30)
Pick: Akron

Portland State vs. Washington (FX, 4:00)
Pick: Washington

Miami (OH) vs. Boise State (NBC Sports Network, 4:00)
Pick: Boise State

Stony Brook vs. Syracuse (Big East Network, 4:00)
Pick: Syracuse

FIU vs. UCF (CSS, 4:00)
Pick: UCF

James Madison vs. (9) West Virginia (Root Sports Pittsburgh, 4:30)
Pick: West Virginia

(18) Florida vs. (23) Tennessee (ESPN, 6:00)
It will come down to the quarterbacks at Neyland and I have a lot more confidence in Tyler Bray than I do Jeff Driskel. Big win for Derek Dooley.
Pick: Tennessee

South Alabama vs. NC State (ESPN3, 6:00)
Pick: NC State

Arizona State vs. Missouri (ESPN2, 7:00)
The Tigers entered the SEC with a dud but fortunately, the Sun Devils are not that good.
Pick: Missouri

Western Kentucky vs. Kentucky (ESPNU, 7:00)
Pick: Kentucky

North Texas vs. (15) Kansas State (FSN, 7:00)
Pick: Kansas State

New Mexico vs. Texas Tech (FCS, 7:00)
Pick: Texas Tech

Sam Houston State vs. Baylor (FCS, 7:00)
Pick: Baylor

UAB vs. (8) South Carolina (FSN, 7:00)
Pick: South Carolina

Bowling Green vs. Toledo (BCSN, 7:00)
Pick: Toledo

Mississippi State vs. Troy (ESPN3, 7:00)
Pick: Mississippi State

Rice vs. Louisiana Tech (ESPN3, 7:00)
Pick: Louisiana Tech

Colorado State vs. San Jose State (ESPN3, 7:00)
Pick: Colorado State

Delaware State vs. Cincinnati (ESPN3, 7:00)
Pick: Cincinnati

North Carolina Central vs. Duke (ESPN3, 7:00)
Pick: Duke

(2) USC vs. (21) Stanford (FOX, 7:30)
I am not too worried about how the Trojans struggled somewhat with Syracuse. I really am not sold yet on Josh Nunes for Stanford at quarterback.
Pick: USC

FAU vs. (7) Georgia (CSS, 7:30)
Pick: Georgia

(20) Notre Dame vs. (10) Michigan State (ABC, 8:00)
I tell you, Everett Goldson has been really impressive for the Fighting Irish but I do not think his team has an answer for Spartans back Le'Veon Bell. Sparty wins a good one.
Pick: Michigan State

Colorado vs. Fresno State (CBS Sports Network, 8:00)
Pick: Fresno State

Ball State vs. Indiana (BTN, 8:00)
Pick: Indiana

Utah State vs. Wisconsin (BTN, 8:00)
Pick: Wisconsin

Idaho vs. (3) LSU (Tiger Vision Pay-Per-View, 8:00)
Pick: LSU

(14) Texas vs. Ole Miss (ESPN, 9:15)
Pick: Texas

(25) BYU vs. Utah (ESPN2, 10:00)
Really hope that this is not the final Holy War.
Pick: BYU

Houston vs. (22) UCLA (Pac-12 Network, 10:30)
Pick: UCLA

South Carolina State vs. Arizona (Pac-12 Network, 10:30)
Pick: Arizona

Lamar vs. Hawaii (Oceanic Pay-Per-View, 11:59)
Pick: Hawaii
