Why the Buffalo Bills should trade up for Matt Kalil

There is always a lot of trade movement at the NFL Draft and this year should be no different as we are likely to see a bevy of teams looking to move up for a guy they love and of teams looking to add more picks and move down. Charley Casserly reported only a few hours ago that Buffalo is looking at trading up for left tackle Matt Kalil. Here is why it is a move that absolutely makes sense.

After Bills left tackle Demetress Bell had signed with the Philadelphia Eagles a few weeks ago, I mocked Riley Reiff to Buffalo for a few weeks until recently changing my projection due to a multitude of factors, including Reiff's declining stock, as well as the fact that the Bills are high on young tackle Chris Hairston, who was not bad last year. But when you have a chance at moving up for a guy as good as a Kalil, you have to pull the trigger considering there are some that suggest that Kalil is the best left tackle prospect since Joe Thomas. Adding a guy like Kalil to the Buffalo offense would be a major upgrade and help this team inch closer to a potential playoff berth.

Now in order to move up for Kalil, Buffalo is going to have to move up to the third pick since even though the Vikings are making it look like they could go with Morris Claiborne, Kalil is still the favorite to go there. If Buffalo feels that Minnesota will take Claiborne, then they'll have to move up to four because Tampa Bay would likely take him with the fifth pick. Casserly reported that the Bills are willing to part with a second round pick to do so and that should get them around the fourth pick; they may need to throw in a fourth rounder if they want to move up to the third selection. But the Bills are willing to be aggressive to get the guy they want and Kalil is a guy worth trading multiple picks for. Overall, I think the Bills should go for it.
