Kansas defeats Ohio State 64-62, advances to 2012 National Championship Game

Somehow, someway, Bill Self and the Kansas Jayhawks find themselves in the National Championship Game. They have seemingly had their backs against the ropes all tournament long and certainly did in the second National Semifinal against the Buckeyes from Ohio State, as they trailed OSU by as much as thirteen points, nine points at the half, and led for less than four minutes all game but they led when it counted the most, at the end of the game. The final was Jayhawks 64 Buckeyes 62 down in the Big Easy. The Jayhawks had four scorers in double-digits with noteworthy performances being from Thomas Robinson (19 points, eight boards), and Elijah Johnson (13 points, ten boards).

It will be Kansas and Kentucky in the 2012 NCAA Tournament Championship Game on Monday night in a coaching rematch of the 2008 championship game, where it was Self that came out on top of John Calipari, who was coaching Memphis.

Jim Nantz, Clark Kellogg and Steve Kerr called the game for CBS Sports from the Superdome and they have the game recap.
