2012 NCAA Tournament Round 2 Friday Predictions

We are through with half of second round action in the 2012 NCAA Tournament and while there were some good games, it also seemed like somewhat of a let down. Let's all hope that Friday's action will be a little better. Here are my game predictions for today's action.

(6) Cincinnati vs. (11) Texas
The problem with Texas is that they are J'Covan Brown and everyone else. Cincinnati's rugged defense will slow him down just enough.
Pick: Cincinnati

(7) San Diego State vs. (11) North Carolina State
I understand that San Diego State has to travel far to Columbus but N.C. State is just so bad on defense.
Pick: San Diego State

(8) Creighton vs. (9) Alabama
I hope the Tide have introduced themselves to Doug McDermott.
Pick: Creighton

(7) Florida vs. (10) Virginia
Virginia goes where Mike Scott goes. The Gators are too varied on offense where it gives them a slight edge.
Pick: Florida

(3) Florida State vs. (14) St. Bonaventure
Andrew Nicholson is a beast and will have the Bonnies in this to the end. But Leonard Hamilton's 'Noles will get the stop they need late.
Pick: Florida State

(3) Georgetown vs. (14) Belmont
I'm really feeling this Belmont team. They are a veteran club that plays mostly seniors with tremendous guard play, and the Hoyas have struggled with talented guards.
Pick: Belmont

(1) North Carolina vs. (16) Vermont
Tom Brennan and Tyler Coppenrath are not walking through the door for the Catamounts.
Pick: North Carolina

(2) Missouri vs. (15) Norfolk State
Well Norfolk State does lead the country in technical fouls...
Pick: Missouri

(8) Memphis vs. (9) Saint Louis
I love the work that Rick Majerus has done with SLU but there is just too much talent on Memphis and they are peaking now.
Pick: Memphis

(2) Duke vs. (15) Lehigh
I can't see Duke losing here but keep an eye on C.J. McCollum of Lehigh who is a legitimate NBA prospect.
Pick: Duke

(4) Michigan vs. (13) Ohio
What's all that Michigan can do? Shoot three pointers. Too bad Ohio is an elite three-point defending team.
Pick: Ohio

(7) Saint Mary's vs. (10) Purdue
The Boilermakers really struggle with a quick and high scoring team like the Gaels. Look for good work from Matthew Dellavedova.
Pick: Saint Mary's

(1) Michigan State vs. (16) LIU Brooklyn
The Blackbirds could keep this competitive but Sparty won't sweat too much to smell bad.
Pick: Michigan State

(7) Notre Dame vs. (10) Xavier
Notre Dame has overachieved all season and they won't be able to slow down Xavier's two great upperclassmen guards, Tu Halloway and Mark Lyons.
Pick: Xavier

(5) Temple vs. (12) USF
Temple has been a little overrated, as proven by their early exit in the A-10 tourney. USF is really feeling it on defense of late, as proven by their dominance over Cal.
Pick: USF

(2) Kansas vs. (15) Detroit
Detroit may make this competitive but Thomas Robinson won't let what happened to Syracuse today happen.
Pick: Kansas
