NBA makes brilliant changes to Rookie Challenge

Today, the NBA announced some changes to the Rookie Challenge, you know, the dreaded rookie-sophomore game which the sophomores win most of the time (although not last year). Let's take a look at the changes that were made.

The game will now be known as the Rising Stars Challenge and will be sponsored by the league's official bank, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentina (of course also BBVA I just love to spell it out). And here is the major change, instead of having rosters of the rookies taking on a rosters of the sophomores, the teams will be drafted by Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal. I love that, it allows for  relatively even clubs and pure hilarity with the coaches. The teams will still be coached by the lead assistant of the coaches coaching in the All-Star Game but assisting Barkley's team will be "the Czar" Mike Fratello and assisting Shaq's team will be Steve Kerr.

The pool of players will be announced tomorrow with the draft being on February 16th on NBA TV. The game itself will be on February 24th.
