Will Andy Reid Get Fired?

This was supposed to be the "Dream Team." The Miami Heat of the NFL, that would win the final game unlike those guys. And yet here they are at 4-8 after an embarrassing loss to the Seahawks on Thursday night and will end this week either in sole possession of last place in the NFC East or tied with the Washington Redskins in last. Talk about meeting expectations.
And as you would expect, Andy Reid, the longest tenured head coach in the NFL, is seeing many loud calls for his ouster. Can't say it's surprising, we are talking about Philadelphia sports fans. But will he get the axe?

Want to Get Excited for the NBA to Come Back?

This is an epic commercial, spotlighting how the NBA, more specifically the New York Knicks, is back.

Any time you can use the excellent Marvin Gaye in brilliant context, that is always a win.

Is Chris Paul Headed for the Knicks?

Yahoo! Sports broke the story yesterday that star point guard Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets had requested a trade to the New York Knicks yesterday after announcing that he will not be re-signing with the team. Then came out reports that he had not requested a trade and that the rumors were unfounded. But you had to figure that it was inevitable that Paul would want out of New Orleans once he aligned himself with guys like Maverick Carter, Leon Rose and William Wesley. And it is clear that Paul wants to come to New York. But will it happen?

Learn Some Hebrew from Amar'e Stoudemire

Got some video of Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire, one of the few NBA players to have Jewish ties, went on Sesame Street to teach us all how to say the word good in Hebrew. I thought this was good (I'm here all week). Let's go to the videotape.

Red Sox Make a Great Hire in Bobby Valentine

The Boston Red Sox have found their new manager and his name is Bobby Valentine. And quite frankly it is a tremendous hire.
I've been seeing a lot of angry response to the Valentine hire by Red Sox fans and I'm not sure why. He has a proven track record as a manager, has handled a big market a la Terry Francona before he Boston and can handle the clubhouse well and run a tight ship and have the players to love him at the same time. He's a charismatic and smart manager who knows the game of baseball very well (don't hold his awful, and I mean awful, tenure as an analyst against him). He knows how to push the right buttons and to get his teams to perform their best as his time with the Mets showed so he'll have the Red Sox right back in the thick of contention after two straight third place finishes in the AL East. What's not to like.

2011 NFL Week 13 Picks

Giants fans, remember when you guys defeated the Packers to advance to Super Bowl XLII, which you would eventually won? Packers fans, remember when you guys knocked the Giants out of the playoffs last year, setting the stage for your run to victory in Super Bowl XLV? Well it's the game of the week as these two clubs, one fighting for playoff position, the other possibly going for an undefeated season, will duke it out in the Meadowlands on Sunday. Who will win?
It's time for my week 13 picks.

Jack Del Rio Fired by Jaguars

The first NFL head coaching casualty is Jack Del Rio, who was fired today by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Del Rio figured to have a hot seat this year as it was essentially make the playoffs or lose your job and with the team at 3-8 after a 20-13 loss to the division leading Texans, it was all but over for Del Rio. This is Del rio's ninth year in Jacksonville and he has accumulated a 68-70 record with two playoff appearances but none since 2007 and only one finish at .500 since then. The Jaguars' offense has been increasingly stagnant as rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert has really struggled since becoming the starter (which why you would draft a quarterback in the first round when you say you have to make the playoffs is pretty odd) and Del Rio of late has been throwing a lot of blame on offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, which showed he felt that his time was about to be over. Defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will be the interim coach for the balance of the season.
Del Rio will presumably be a top contender for open defensive coordinator positions or could coach in college.

Even Little Kids Want Andy Reid Fired

The calls for Andy Reid's head in Philadelphia are getting loud as his Eagles are floundering at 4-7 with their playoff dreams all but dead. In fact even three-year-olds want him gone. And they should probably pay DeSean Jackson as well. This had me rolling, let's go to the videotape.

2011-12 College Football Bowl Predictions after Week 13

We've got some conference championships to be determined this week (my picks here) with possibly nobody with as much to gain and lose as Houston, who can clinch a BCS bid by defeating Southern Miss in the C-USA Championship Game. If they lose, it could open the door for someone else. Also will we see a rematch in the title game and will someone win the Big East? It's time for my bowl game predictions.

2011 College Football Week 14 Picks

The 2011 college football season is about to wrap up this week as this is pretty much the end of the regular season before the bowl games save for Army-Navy on the 10th. That also means we got some conference championships to decide. The MAC, Pac-12, Conference USA, SEC, B1G Ten and ACC all have their conference championship games this week and we also have some intriguing matchups as well, most notable Bedlam. Here are my picks for this week.
