Are Boise State's BCS Hopes Done?

Two of the top BCS busting clubs of the last decade faced off today in Boise but the Broncos were the favorite over the TCU Horned Frogs, mostly because Boise was ranked fifth and undefeated while TCU had a pair of losses and were not ranked. But it was TCU that came out on top today 36-35, winning on a two point conversion that gave them the lead and when Broncos kicker Dan Goodale missed a field goal at the horn. Many are saying that Boise' BCS hopes are dead. After it seems you can only get a BCS bid from being outside one of the auto qualifiers and Boise probably won't even win their conference. But they still have a shot and here's how.

Phillies Sign Jonathan Papelbon: High Risk, High Reward

The first major move in the MLB offseason thus far has been made today as the Philadelphia Phillies, after what was thought to be a done deal with their free agent closer Ryan Madson fell apart, made a deal with Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon for four years and close to $50 million with a vesting option for a sixth year. This deal comes with a lot of risk for Philadelphia, but also a lot of reward.

Nationals Catcher Wilson Ramos Kidnapped in Guatemala

Lost amongst the insanity at Penn State was the stunning and shocking news that young catcher for the Washington Nationals Wilson Ramos was kidnapped by gunmen outside of his home in Santa Ines, Venezuela. He was reportedly approached by a quartet of gunmen who had entered his house and then took him away in a green SUV. As of this point there has been no contact between the kidnappers and Ramos' family. The "Body of Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations" arm of the government has set up operations at the Ramos home. May your prayers be with him and hope that he comes out of this okay.
UPDATE: The vehicle that was used by the kidnappers has been located and found abandoned in a nearby town. More here.
UPDATE 2: Ramos has been rescued by authorities and is safe. More here.

Complete Chaos at Penn State after Joe Paterno Firing

This is the scene right now at Penn State University after the firing of legendary head coach Joe Paterno. This after the conclusion of a disgraceful press conference in which the local media showed no objectivity at all and were acting like biased students. Speaking of the students, extremely doubtful that these kids read the grand jury report and it's shameful that they are acting as if Paterno is a victim rather than the countless kids that were sexually assaulted by Jerry Sandusky, who's actions are the reason why the poop has hit the fan at PSU.  Not to mention that Paterno has said that not doing anything was "one of the great sorrows of my life" and that "I should have done more." But when you get morons who want to be on television, this was bound to happen. Let's hope these morons end this nonsense and head back to their dorms soon.

BREAKING NEWS: Joe Paterno Out at Penn State, Will Not Coach Another Game

ABC Philadelphia affiliate WPVI-TV has reported that Joe Paterno will not coach another game at Penn State. Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley will serve as interim head coach for the balance of the season. A news conference will be held by the Penn State Board of Trustees within the hour and is expected to confirm what WPVI has reported, which will be streamed live at 6abc.com and on ESPNEWS. Paterno had announced he was going to retire at the end of the season earlier today.
This, of course, is all regarding the Jerry Sandusky sexual assault scandal. Here's my take from earlier on why Paterno had to go.

Why Joe Paterno Had to Go

In the wake of the incredibly disturbing and despicable charges against former long-time Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky, who has been charged with sexual abuse and assault of minors (read the grand jury report as well as a timeline of events), scandal has enveloped the entire campus in State College, Pennsylvania. Legendary Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno, who just last Saturday became the winningest coach in Divsion 1 football history, has been caught in the thick of it and just today announced his retirement at the end of the season after 60-plus years of continuous service at Penn State. Here is why he had to step down.

2011 NFL Week 10 Picks

As usual, the Patriots and the Jets will be facing off to determine who has control of the AFC East. But both teams are coming into Sunday night's showdown in East Rutherford going in different directions, with New York the winners of three in a row while New England has lost two in a row. Who will win and gain momentum for the stretch run? It's time for my week 10 predictions.

2011-12 College Football Bowl Predictions after Week 10

The matchup of the year between number 1 LSU and number 2 Alabama resulted in a 9-6 victory for Les Miles and the Tigers, who are now without question the number one team in the America and a heavy favorite to reach the BCS National Championship Game. How does that, even more mediocrity in the Big Ten (really Nebraska? Losing to Northwestern) and another exciting week of college football shaped my bowl predictions? Let's take a look.

Colts Remain Winless, Could They Actually Go 0-16?

With the Miami Dolphins making a mockey of the Kansas City Chiefs today, that leaves only one NFL club without their first win and that would be the Indianapolis Colts, who fell today to Atlanta 31-7 to fall to 0-9. Now with seven games left in the 2011 NFL season for this wayward team, could they really go winless?

Watch Andy Rooney Talk Sports Over the Years

As we celebrate the life of the late Andy Rooney, one cannot forget how he didn't just talk about the news or the items at his desk but also sports. Rooney was a long-time season ticket holder of his beloved New York Giants, in fact I believe he had tickets in the upper deck. Here are some clips of the 60 Minutes icon taking a few minutes to talk sports.

Watch Matt Schaub Hit a Security Guard With a Pass

Who would've thought some humor would come out of Matt Schaub scrambling out of the pocket during Houston's 30-12 beatdown of Cleveland? Video courtesy SportsGrid.

That security guard has got to get his head in the game.

2011 College Football Week 11 Picks

Two of the top BCS busting clubs will be going at it for Mountain West supremacy. Can Boise State keep their national title hopes alive or could TCU pull the upset and ruin Boise's BCS dreams? It's time for my week 11 picks.

It's Official, Missouri to the SEC

What's been rumored for months is now official, the fourteenth member of the Southeastern Conference will be the University of Missouri. The move will be effective July 1, 2012 as Missouri will join fellow Big XII defector Texas A&M into the toughest conference in the world of college football. So what does this move mean for both conferences?

Alabama Fan Cries With LSU on Verge of Victory

Just in case you were not sure how seriously Crimson Tide fans take their team... (Courtesy SportsGrid).
Well it was a hell of a game between #1 LSU and #2 Alabama with the Tigers prevailing on overtime 9-6, and we don't want to know what that fan is going through right now.
