One of the more respected and beloved announcers in NHL history has left the broadcast booth for one team that he has covered for over 20 years and that's Mike "Doc" Emrick with the New Jersey Devils. Doc has chosen to focus exclusively on NBC/VERSUS as their lead play-by-play announcer. He has decided to cut back on travel at the age of 65.
Emrick is widely considered to be one of, if not the, best NHL announcers and has been calling games for almost 30 years on both the regional and national levels. As a Devils fan, I can fully attest to the love that the Devils fanbase had for Doc as he and his broadcast partner Chico Resch became legendary amongst the Jersey crowd. I once met Doc and I can say he is definitly one of the nicest and classiest people I have ever met. Just a great guy and I wish him the best in his future endeavers and I will always be watching when he calls a game.

Provided there is a 2011-12 NBA Season, which I think will be locked out to be honest, here is the schedule for the NBA on ESPN. The big news here is that one of the lead analysts, Mark Jackson, has become the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. How the lead team of Mike Breen and Jeff Van Gundy will change, or not, is to be determined.
Well the NBA has decided to announce the schedule for the 2011-12 season, despite the very real possibility that the season will be locked out. Regardless, here's the schedule for the NBA on TNT, which has been in the news for bringing on Shaquille O'Neal to Inside the NBA to work with Ernie, Kenny and Charles. Should be fantastic.
