Animal Kingdom Wins the Kentucky Derby

Jockey John Velazquez was originally going to be on the reins of Uncle Mo, who had the second best odds for victory. However, Velazquez was on the sidelines when Uncle Mo was scratched earlier in the week. He then replaced Robby Albarado on the reins of Animal Kingdom, a long shot at 20-1, after Albarado broke his nose earlier this week as well. And somehow, someway Animal Kingdom roared to the lead coming out of the fourth turn and won the 137th Kentucky Derby. Meanwhile, favorite Dialed In was never a factor and finished in eighth. Second and third place were claimed by Nehro and Mucho Macho Man respectively.

Grant Novak the Hero as Highlands Rallies to Beat Wayne Valley, 8-7

This season, Grant "Itis" Novak has mostly been used as a defensive replacement for Northern Highlands and has not had a lot of opportunities to strut his stuff at the plate. In fact in today's game against Wayne Valley, he was not in the starting lineup. But after Sameer Ganju was pulled and centerfielder Billy Taylor became the man on the hill, Novak took Ganju's place in the lineup and Taylor's spot in center. Amd it turned out to work wonders as he hit the game-winning triple that scored John Hinchen as Highlands rallied from a 7-1 deficit to win 8-7.

Derrick Rose Wins NBA MVP, But Was He The Most Deserving?

Derrick Rose was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2010-11 NBA Season as he led the Bulls to the top seed in the Eastern Conference and the best record in all of the NBA. Rose is the youngest recipient of the MVP award at the ripe old age of 22. He averaged 25.0 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds over the course of the season.
There is no doubt that Rose had a superb season but was he the most deserving player?

What is Rashard Mendenhall Thinking?

I'm completely dumbfounded by a couple of tweets from Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall, both of which regarding the death of Osama bin Laden (both are pictured above). First he said that "We'll never know what really happened. I just have a hard time believing a plane could take down a plane demolition style." Then he shows some sympathy for bin Laden (I'm not making this up folks). "What kind of person celebrates death. It's amazing how people can HATE a man they never have heard speak. We've only heard one side."
I proceed to lose my mind over these comments after the jump.

Kyle Busch Win the Crown Royal Presents 400

It seems that when Kyle Busch celebrates his birthday, he celebrates it by winning the Sprint Cup Series race at Richmond. He has now done that for the third straight year as he won the Crown Royal Presents the Matthew and Daniel Hansen 400. This was Rowdy's second win of the season and he is now 30 points in the standings behind Carl Edwards, who finished fifth. The rest of the top five was Denny Hamlin, Kasey Kahne, and David Ragan.
