Northern Highlands Baseball Murders Ramsey 18-3

The Highlanders of Northern Highlands Regional High School took the diamond today in Allendale, N.J. with a sour taste in their mouths after an ugly loss to Fair Lawn. But by the time they finished off the Rams of hated Ramsey High School Saturday afternoon in an incredibly fashion, all was well. They scored 18 runs (yes you read that correctly) in the first three innings of today's game including 12 in the second with 11 of them coming with two outs to take the game 18-3 after five innings when a mercy was called.

Rory McIlroy Leads The Masters Going Into Final Round

Since he shot a 65 in his opening round on Thursday, young Rory McIlroy has been the man at the point at The Masters and after shooting rounds of 69 and 70, he is the leader heading into the final round at 12 under par. This is only the second time the budding star has ever made the cut at the Masters but he has been the top dog throughout. The 21 year old will be paired with 2009 Masters victor Angel Cabrera tomorrow. Cabrera shot five under par to tie for second at -8 with Charl Schwartzel, four under on Saturday, K.J. Choi, one under today, and Jason Day, who today was even par.
Tiger Woods shot two over par and is now five under par and tied for ninth while defending Masters champion Phil Mickelson shot one under par and is tied for 18th at three under par.
Here is the leaderboard after three rounds.

One Shining Moment 2011

Well there is no denying that it may be the corniest song since the Hamster Song but there is just something about One Shining Moment that makes it special. Somehow it works. And at least it isn't the debacle that it was last year with Jennifer Hudson on the horn.
And with that, the 2011 NCAA Tournament is all wrapped up. Hope you all enjoyed your blown-up brackets.

UConn Wins The 2011 National Championship

For the third time since 1999, the Connecticut Huskies are kings of the dance as they won the 2011 NCAA Tournament tonight in Houston by defeating the Butler Bulldogs by a 52-41 score in the ultimate grinder of a game. This is a team that some did not even think would make the NCAA Tournament before the season. They were the ninth seed in the Big East Tournament. But they stood alone as champions in New York and now they can stand alone as champions across the country.
This was a total defensive battle as both teams struggled to make shots tonight as UConn shot 34.5% while Butler shot a putrid 18.8% from the field. Kemba Walker, who has been the stud on the court that UConn has needed all year, led all scorers with 16 points. His teammates Jeremy Lamb (12 points) and Alex Oriakhi (11 points, 11 boards) came up big tonight as well as they won Jim Calhoun his third national championship as coach of the Huskies.
This is Butler's second straight loss in the national championship game. Shelvin Mack led the Bulldogs with 13 points. But those Butler Bulldogs can hang their head high after they put together their second straight incredible run to the tournament final that has given hope to all small schools in the NCAA Tournament.
Only four other coaches have won three national championships as Calhoun joins that special club tonight. Calhoun also become the oldest head coach to win a national title as he is 68 years young.
As Jim Nantz stated as the game concluded, "The Huskies are the top dog in 2011!"

Junior saw his winless streak stretched to 99 races. And for the second straight week Kyle Busch dominated and led the most laps but was shuffled back at the end, this time to third.
