After a stunning Daytona 500 in which young Trevor Bayne shocked the nation by winning, the NASCAR world looks for a return to normality as the 2011 schedule has them out in Arizona at Phoenix International Receway in the Subway Fresh Fit 500. Who will come out on top?

2011 NBA Trade Deadline Recap

It has certainly been an interesting NBA trading deadline that passed today. Quite a few deals were made that could possibly affect playoff races across the NBA. So who came out on top and who is left to pick up the pieces. Here are my thoughts.

Boston Celtics Trade Kendrick Perkins? Why?

Arguably the most surprising and shocking move of the NBA trading deadline was the Boston Celtics shipping Kendrick Perkins to Oklahoma City for Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic. And while Green is a decent yet overrated player and Krstic is a serviceable center, this is a major head-scratching move for Boston to make at this point during the season.

2011 NFL Combine: Key Questions

The 2011 NFL Scouting Combine begins today at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Here is what you should you watching for as the Combine gets under way as the road to the NFL draft gets shorter.

Tim Floyd Loses His Mind

Throughout his long winding road of a coaching career, UTEP head coach Tim Floyd has had his fair share of meltdowns. But early in the second half last night when his club was playing the East Carolina Pirates in Greenville, Floyd lost his mind. He first was screaming at the referees and threw his jacket on the bench and he then when he got his second technical (first one for stepping out of the coaching box) he went right after the referee and then police were forced to intervene. I can't make this stuff up. To the videotape.

Carmelo Anthony Wins Debut With The Knicks, Puts Up Double Double

Carmelo Anthony made his highly anticipated at a packed Madison Square Garden last night while wearing a Knickerbocker uniform and he did not disappoint as he put up 27 points and grabbed 10 boards as New York knocked off the lowly Milwaukee Bucks 114-108. Check out the highlights from Anthony's opening act.

Deron Williams Traded To The Nets

In one of the more shocking deals of the year, star point guard Deron Williams has been traded to the New Jersey Nets for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, and two first round picks plus three million dollars.
I can honestly say that I did not see this one coming.

2011 Academy Awards Predictions

I'm gonna take a short break from the sporting world and dish out my predictions for the 2011 Oscars. While I'm no Roger Ebert (although even I'm better than Ben Lyons), I am somewhat a movie buff so I decided to take a stab at predicting who will bring home the hardware this Sunday.

Carmelo Anthony Traded To The New York Knicks

Carmelo Anthony is getting his demands answered as he is on the way to New York City to become a member of the New York Knicks, according to the Denver Post. The Knicks are also receiving Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and former Knick Renaldo Balkman plus Corey Brewer from the Timberwolves and the Denver Nuggets will receive Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Timofey Mosgov, the 2014 first round pick of the Knicks, second round picks in 2012 and 2013 from the Golden State Warriors as well as three million dollars in cash. Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry will be sent to Minnesota as well.
This is a trade that will certainly rock the NBA to its core.

2011 NCAA Tournament: Predicting Announcer Assignments For Rounds 2-3 (Part 3)

Every week, I try to predict where the eight NCAA Tournament broadcast teams will be calling their games in rounds 2-3 of the 2011 March Madness. Here is my third stab at it with the bracketology of Bracketology 101

Kobe Bryant Wins MVP, Leads West To Victory

Kobe Bryant, in front of the home crowd at Staples Center, took over the 60th NBA All-Star Game at times when he played with such intensity and passion as he dropped an incredible 37 points and led the Western Conference to a 148-143 victory last night. Check out video of Kobe's terrific performance.

Trevor Bayne Wins The Daytona 500

Tell me you saw this one coming. A kid in only his second Sprint Cup Series start and a day past his twentieth birthday, racing for a team that is not even running the full slate of races and has not won a race in ten years winning the Great American Race. Sounds crazy right?

Don't tell that to Trevor Bayne, who superbly rode a fast car that was pushing drivers to the front all day and he won the 53rd Daytona 500
despite a record number of lead changes, cautions, and a big wreck early that took out a lot of contenders. Simply unbelievable.

James Jones Wins The Three Point Contest

See how James Jones of the Miami Heat was the top three point shooter last night and won the trophy over Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kevin Durant, and Dorell Wright. To the videotape.

Did Blake Griffin Just Jump Over A Car? Highlights From The Dunk Contest

Well I used to believe in gravity, until last night. And yes, Blake Griffin did just about jump over a car (for the most part) to power home an alley-oop from Baron Davis during the Slam Dunk Contest last night. And yes he did in fact win. To the videotape of Griffin's insane slam plus other great dunks from the Slam Dunk Contest.
