Seven have been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame today and they are Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Shannon Sharpe, Richard Dent, Ed Sabol, Chris Hanburger, and Les Richter. These greats will be inducted into Canton on August 6, 2011. Here's my take on this year's inductees.

Super Bowl XLV Picks

So it all comes down to this; the biggest sporting event of the season. One NFL season is down to just two teams battling for all the glory and pride and respect that comes when you hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy. Will the Lombardi Trophy be coming back home to Green Bay, Wisconsin or will the Pittsburgh Steelers win their record seventh NFL championship?
It's time that you all have been waiting for, my Super Bowl XLV prediction.

Black & Yellow or Green & Yellow?

You can now support the teams in Super Bowl XLV through rap music. Who would've thought that?

Support the Pittsburgh Steelers:

Or the Green Bay Packers:

Good stuff, eh?

NBA All-Star Game Reserves

We already found out who the starters were for the 2011 NBA All-Star Game but tonight they are announcing the reserves for the East and West squads? Did your favorite player make the big game or were they snubbed?
The All-Star Game reserves plus my analysis after the jump.

Goalie Fight During Islanders-Penguins Last Night

I can't think of anything better in hockey than a goalie fight. They so rarely happen that you cherish them when they do/ And that's what happened when a scrum broke out late last night of the Pittsburgh Penguins's 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders and for some reason Penguins backup goalkeeper Brent Johnson and Islanders netminder Rick DiPietro went at it. Let's go to the videotape.
UPDATE: DiPietro will be out 4-6 weeks due to injuries suffered in this fight

Bill Simmons Getting Excited During Bulls-Clippers Last Night

When the last time you say anyone excited at a Clippers game before Blake Griffin came to town?

Super Bowl Sunday On Fox Schedule

Super Bowl XLV is on Fox on February 6 and a whole day of coverage is in stock beginning with the Super Bowl XLV Pregame Show at 2:00 PM (EST). Wondering what you will see during those four and a half hours before kickoff?
Here's the press release.

Is Blake Griffin Even Human?

And yet another post created in awe of Blake Griffin's super human leaping ability. Last night his Clippers were facing one of the best defensive teams in the NBA in the Chicago Bulls and even they could not stop this guy. Unbelievable. Take a look.

What Was The Greatest Super Bowl Halftime Show Of All Time?

One of the biggest parts of the Super Bowl has always been the halftime show. As the game has transformed into something more than just a football championship game, the halftime show is one of the biggest stages any performer could perform on.
With the terrible Black Eyed Peas performing at halftime of Super Bowl XLV, it's safe to say they will not be the greatest halftime show of all time (unless you like crappy music, then it might). But what performance was the best? In my opinion, only one stands alone.

Bill Belichick Wins NFL Coach Of The Year

Bill Belichick is the 2010 NFL Coach of the Year after his New England Patriots finished 14-2 in the 2010 NFL season despite undergoing a rebuilding year of sorts in which the team was expected to take a step back before the season. This is the third time that Belichick has won the award as he won it in 2003 and 2007.

Super Bowl XLV: Banned Commercials

We all know how big of an audience the Super Bowl gets every year and thus it is a huge market for advertisers. In fact the advertisements are such a huge part of the game some say they watch for the commercials (traditionally women but not always). And every year there are some commercials that the networks have refused to air for various reasons. In fact, here are the ads that were rejected by Fox and will not air during Super Bowl XLV. Enjoy.

The Greatest Super Bowls Of All Time

As we get revved up for Super Bowl XLV, it's time to take a look back over the years of NFL's Championship Game and decide which games were the best of all time.
Here is my list of the ten greatest Super Bowls of all time.

Tom Brady Wins NFL Offensive Player Of The Year

Following a terrific season in which he threw for 3,900 yards and 36 touchdowns against only 4 interceptions, Tom Brady has been named the Offensive Player Of The Year.

Stephen A. Smith Has Returned To ESPN Radio

Stephen A. Smith, that man who we all knew for loving Cheez Doodles as well as Kwame Brown, will return to ESPN Radio, as he will host a show on WEPN in New York from 7-9 P.M. (EST) and on ESPN in Los Angeles from 6-8 P.P. (PST). Smith will also write for ESPNNY.com and ESPNLA.com. This is just a couple of months after Smith's show on FOX Sports Radio was ended. Smith has not worked for ESPN Radio since April 2008.

Super Bowl XLV: Can The Packers Slow Down Rashard Mendenhall?

In 2010, Pittsburgh Steelers running back Rashard Mendenhall proved he is one of the top young running backs in the NFL by rushing for 1,273 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also played a huge part in the Steelers' run to Arlington with a terrific game against the New York Jets in the AFC Championship Game. Can the defense of the Green Bay Packers slow him down?

DeAndre Jordan Demolishes Jon Brockman

The Los Angeles Clippers have been killing teams with their epic dunks all season but those were courtesy of stud rookie Blake Griffin (see here, here, here and here). But last night against the Milwaukee Bucks, DeAndre Jordan jumped into the mix with authority and threw down what might have been the most vicious dunk of the season on Jon Brockman. Let's go to the videotape.

Who Should Invest In The New York Mets?

Thanks to another odd turn in the still-ongoing Bernie Madoff case, the Wilpon family is looking for some investors to buy up to 25% of the New York Metropolitans. While there have been some interested buyers, nobody really exciting has stepped up to the financial plate. Here are some folks who I think should take a long look at purchasing a stake of the Mets.

Ines Sainz Sighted at Super Bowl XLV Media Day Pretending To Be A Reporter

Well Ines Sainz, that very attractive Mexican sports "reporter" most notably known for bitching about the Jets before the season, is back in the world of football as she has been spotted in Arlington, Texas for Super Bowl XLV media day where she was doing more interviews with other reporters instead of conducting them with the players. In fact she drew more attention than many of the players. So much for being a "reporter:" Here are some photos that we can all enjoy.

Troy Polamalu Wins NFL Defensive Player Of The Year

Despite an early report that Clay Matthews of the Green Bay Packers was the 2010 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu is the actual winner of the award after a spectacular season with 63 tackles, seven interceptions, and made many huge plays this season that changed the game

Ben Roethlisberger...Can He Ever Regain Respect?

As the Green Bay Packers and the Pittburgh Steelers prep this week in the Metroplex as they gear up for Super Bowl XLV, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been a hot topic. Not because of the fact that he has the chance to join a handful of quarterbacks with three Super Bowl wins but because of his widely publicized rape allegations in Milledgeville, Georgia early last year that resulted in a four game suspension at the beginning of this football season. Can the man known as Big Ben ever get pass the stigma of being that guy known as Rapelisberger?

We Have Found The Next Gus Johnson...Doug Sherman

The guy pictured above works MAAC basketball games for ESPN. He delivered such a terrible call of a ridiculous halfcourt buzzer beater that won the game for Manhatten over Marist that would make only Chris Myers proud (unnecessary Chris Myers dig #33). His name is Doug Sherman and he is the next Gus Johnson. Let's go to the videotape.

Eddie House Has Big Balls

Late in the exciting game between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Miami Heat, Eddie House made a huge three with 22.2 seconds to go to put Miami up by two and during the ensuing timeout by Oklahoma City, House did an interesting dance to celebrate. Let's go to the videotape.

2011 NHL All-Star Game Highlights

It was an exciting NHL All-Star Weekend at the RBC Center in Raliegh, North Carolina and it all culminated in the 58th NFL All-Star Game on Sunday afternoon in which after the teams were selected in a Fantasy Draft held on Friday evening by captains Nicklas Lidstrom and Eric Staal, Team Lidstrom won 11-10. Take a look at the scoring summary with video highlights from the game, courtesy of NHL.com.

Blake Griffin Has No Regard For Human Life

Blake Griffin has shown unbelievable hops in his rookie season and has made alley-oops look simple. For example, take a look at this insane connection from Clippers guard Randy Foye from 3/4 court away against the Charlotte Bobcats. You will need help pulling your jaw up from the ground.
