Wake Forest Surprising Yet Again

Behind the left arm of quarterback Tanner Price and the coaching of Jim Grobe, the Demon Deacons of Wake Forest are at it again, surprising the college football nation as they now sit at 4-1 after a big time upset of Florida State. Now while I don't think you'll see this team winning the ACC like they did in 2006, they just seem to be the masters of excelling under the radar.
Grobe's philosophy at Wake has been to redshirt as many underclassmen as possibly so that they are very experienced when they are upperclassmen and have been in the program longer. But last year they got ravaged by injuries and had to rely on a boatload of underclassmen, leading to their 3-9 record. Most, including myself, thought that while the Demon Deacons had some promising talent, they were at least a year away. But they are looking like one of the better teams in the ACC, most notable thanks to Price, who has developed into one of the better passers in the conference.
And not enough credit could be given to Grobe. He has done such a tremendous job in Winston-Salem, the first coach in 61 years at the school with a winning record. And he has rejected multiple jobs preferring to stay on Tobacco Road.
How surprising has Wake Forest been of late (and how disappointing has Florida State been of late)? Wake has taken four out of six from the onetime dominant force in the ACC.
